'Gaslit' premiered on Starz on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Although the first episode of the political thriller was met with mixed reviews, the stellar performance of the cast has received overall praise. Episode 2 is now available to stream and viewers are finally introduced to the core incident that the show is built around - the Watergate scandal.

Created by Robbie Pickering, this Watergate drama focuses on people other than former US president Richard Nixon and presents stories of individuals whose lives were turned upside down by the scandal. The show brings to light several untold stories, including Nixon’s opportunistic subordinates, the whistle-blowers of the scandal, those who masterminded the deed, and those who ended up exposing it. The latest episode of the Starz drama features Frank Wills, the young security guard who was instrumental in detecting the break-in.

Viewers are introduced to Frank Wills as a black man in 1970s America, caught up in a power struggle dominated by white men. While interviewing Frank for a job, Anderson tells him, “If you're on the front desk, you only have one job, and that job is to make white folks feel secure, and nothing makes white folks feel more secure than a friendly public-school-educated boy that knows the capitals.”

Later in the episode, viewers finally see the Watergate operation and how the plan went wrong. During the break-in at the Democratic National Committee inside the Watergate complex in Washington, Frank Wills called the police after discovering that locks at the complex had been tampered with. This led to five men being arrested inside the Democratic headquarters, which they had planned to bug. The arrests triggered the Watergate scandal and eventually the resignation of President Richard M Nixon in 1974.

After the break-in, Anderson applauds Frank and tells him that the big bosses have approved a small token for his heroic actions: he receives a paltry raise of $2.50. Although disappointed, Frank accepts it. Is there more to Frank’s story? Stay tuned to ‘Gaslit’ for more updates.

Episode 2 of 'Gaslit' is available on Starz.
