'Game of Thrones' season 8 reunions which took us back to events set off in season 1

The cripple, the bastard, and everything that was broken came together in the first episode creating a whirlpool which will soon churn out some massive consequences for the characters.

THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 8 EPISODE 1

'Game of Thrones' Season 8 was quite expectedly supposed to have a number of reunions taking us back to the memories of the episodes where we first and last met these characters. Episode 1 was almost a recap to all the events which took place in Season 1, and as it completed a full circle, the episode brought back some reluctant memories which some characters had chosen to forget while for others, it served as a reminder of a bitter past that refuses to go away.

As we await the arrival of Episode 2 which will follow up on the consequences of these reunions, let's take a quick look at all the moments which season 1 paved the way for.

1. Bran Stark and Jaime Lannister

While this was the last reunion in the episode, it was also the most important one because of its significant origins. Jaime is responsible for Bran's cripple state of existence, and while at that young age Bran never remembered who had pushed him off the tower, now being the Three-eyed Raven, he not only remembers but also knows what Jaime has been up to. Episode 2 will see Daenerys trying to punish Jaime for killing her father and it will interesting to watch if Bran chooses to forgive Jaime or plots against him. Also, it is important to note that Jaime regrets what he had done and most probably he will accept any punishment that comes his way.

2. Jon Snow and Arya Stark

One of the most awaited reunions of 'Game of Thrones' was Jon and Arya's. On one hand, it projected Arya's growth from being an impulsive child to a girl who measures her every step, on the other hand, it was a moment of realization for Jon who was not expecting Arya to support Sansa in her suspicions against Daenerys. The two did not quarrel but in fact, they were happy to meet each other again. Although the tension lurked beneath them, Jon and Arya once again managed to set aside all obstacles and talk about the things they love the most, such as swords.

3. Tyrion Lannister and Sansa Stark

Although they were married Tyrion and Sansa never met after she fled. (IMDb)

Although they were married, the two never shared any romantic relationship. On the contrary, Tyrion was the only man who had treated Sansa with the respect that she deserved. However, their meeting saw a complete alteration to their dynamics as Tyrion turned out to be someone trying to prove his worth to Sansa, who is now the Lady of Winterfell. Sansa was baffled by just how easily Tyrion was able to believe Cersei's proposal of sending the Lannister army to the North, on the other hand, Tyrion was absolutely impressed with the powerful leader Sansa had grown up to be.

4. Theon Greyjoy and Yara Greyjoy

Theon and Yara joined forces once again, but Theon is about to travel North. (IMDb)

Fans had been rooting for this brother-sister reunion for a very long time and honestly, this was the best reunion so far. Theon who had left Yara to die in the hands of their uncle, Euron, finally redeemed himself in Season 7 and set sail to rescue her. He finally manages to do so and although initially Yara was upset with him, the two soon set their differences aside to form a team. However, Theon continued to follow his faith as he once again is about to set sail to North to help Jon in the Great War, and as we can expect Theon's arrival will bring up yet another reunion between him and Bran, whom he had tried to kill in Season 4.

'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Episode 2 arrives on April 21.
