PARIS, FRANCE: Apple TV+'s latest biographical drama, 'Franklin', depicts the eight years Benjamin Franklin (Michael Douglas) spent in France to convince King Louis XVI and the French ministers to aid America in its war against Great Britain.

During his prolonged stay in France, he encountered diplomatic challenges and also faced life-threatening situations. 'Franklin' Episode 5 ended with a brutal attack on a man, appearing to be Franklin.

In 'Franklin' Episode 6, it is revealed that the man who gets killed was hired by Benjamin Franklin to play his double.

The unknown assassins mistook him to be Franklin and killed him. At the morgue, Franklin mourned the death of his double while appearing to be shaken by the entire incident.

Franklin believes that either someone at the court or one of his close allies orchestrated the attack. He even names Lenoir as a suspect.

Though Franklin remains unaware of the identity of the attackers, viewers can infer that it is the British spy who tried to kill Franklin.

Edward Bancroft (Daniel Mays) has been passing on crucial information related to Franklin to the spy. When he fails to kill Franklin, he meets Edward again and they get into an argument.

However, this time, Edward refuses to give away any further information and mentions that Franklin might soon be out of the picture with John Adams' (Eddie Marsan) growing prominence.

Meanwhile, as French authorities investigate the matter, their suspicion rises towards Williams, who claims to represent the British Prime Minister, but none of the French spies in Lord North's office have heard of him.

With the French not taking any strong action against the assassin and Williams continuing to plot evil schemes, Franklin's fate hangs in the air.

However, he is not likely to face any further life-threatening events, as the French are keeping a close eye on Williams and cannot have Franklin murdered on their land.

Moreover, Franklin will lay low amid the rising tensions in the upcoming episode.

'Franklin' is available to stream on Apple TV+.
