Adams' proposal doesn't only face rejection from Franklin, but also angers Count of Vergennes, who asks Adams to leave his office and never return.

Count of Vergennes faces opposition from other French ministers amid the contradictory actions of American diplomats- Franklin and Adams. During a meeting with the King, the Count of Vergennes asks the King (Tom Pezier) to mention in writing if he intends to quit France's participation in the war.

Later, in the episode, when the Count of Vergennes meets Franklin, he mentions that the next campaign would be the last one from France as the country can no longer finance the war.

Count of Vergennes offers a loan of 6 million livres along with 7,000 troops and ships to fight against Great Britain.

At the beginning of the episode, Benjamin Franklin's grandson Temple Franklin (Noah Jupe) ran away with his friends to participate in the American war. However, the plans of the young boys came to an indefinite halt when they were caught and presented before the Count of Vergennes.

By the end of the episode, there's a shift in Franklin's enthusiasm, as he no longer enjoys the company of his friends and even gets into an argument with them.

He then eventually returns to Franklin and resumes his old job of drafting letters, subtly indicating that he has no plans to fight the war on the field.

In the next episode, as France prepares to make its final move in the war, America's fate will be determined amid the growing conspiracy and betrayal by Franklin's close ally.

'Franklin' is available to stream on Apple TV+.
