President Joe Biden and others who attended his joint address on April 28 have been slammed on social media for wearing masks at a public gathering as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in its newly updated guidelines say fully vaccinated people need not wear masks outdoors.

The CDC recently approved Americans stepping outside without masks in public gatherings, provided they are fully vaccinated and so are the other attendees of the gathering. Relaxing its mask mandate where people were advised to wear masks if they were within six feet of each other, the CDC has said that while unvaccinated people still need to keep wearing masks, those vaccinated don't necessarily need to. However, the wearing of masks is still recommended at public indoor events such as restaurants, shopping centers and movie theatres.

During a Fox News segment, the presenter brought up Biden and the other attendees, like his wife and FLOTUS Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and others like Rep Maxine Waters and Bernie Sanders sporting masks. The Fox News host argues this is "setting an example for others in the country". One user slammed Biden, saying, "Rules for Thee, Not For Me. What a joke."

Tweeting a clip from the segment Vox journalist Aaron Rupar wrote "Fox News responds to Biden's #JointAddress by desperately searching for gotchas."

Soon others poured in with quips and flak at the newscaster for this hard to reach criticism against the president just for the sake of it. "They'll pull out a clip of a stutter or a slip of the tongue to prove to their brilliant audience that "sleepy Joe" has dementia. Deplorables. There is no place for truth in that space," criticized another user.

Others were curious, as one asked "Was there really a point of that avalanche of words she spilled out?" And some lamented "Don't they ever get tired of sounding absolutely ridiculous" with an eye roll emoji. Some even joked about the way Fox tried to be suave with this narrative and their ultimate failure tweeting "You know you won the night when all Fox is 'I can’t believe he wore a mask during a pandemic'." Others simply claimed "They’re gonna pull a muscle reaching that far." Another slammed the network as "masters of hypocrisy."
