Hans Eli Sebastian Fors, aka Forsen, recently revealed his long-awaited Dota 2 rank. He is a popular Twitch streamer who has 1.7 million followers on the streaming platform. He is well known for streaming popular games like Hearthstone and Among Us. He had kept his Dota 2 rank a secret for a long time and making this big reveal has naturally stirred his fanbase.

Dota 2 is a popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Valve Corporation. The ranking system of this game is based on the player's matchmaking rating (MMR). It determines the player’s skill level in numerical value. When the MMR increases, the rank will also increase.

Forsen has revealed his Dota 2 ranking

Forsen has been playing Dota 2 for several years. Since the new ranking system was implemented, his rank had been unknown to his fanbase. His fans were eagerly waiting for him to share his rank, and it led to many speculations and theories raised about his skill level.

On May 4, 2023, Forsen finally revealed his Dota 2 rank in a recent live stream on Twitch. He claims that he has received "Guardian II" which is considered to be a high rank in the game. According to him and his fan base, however, this is a lower one, because they believe Forsen has the potential to get a higher rank than Guardian II. Since there was a new implementation in the ranking system, his rank might have deteriorated.

Forsen's revelation also sparked a debate about the importance of transparency in the gaming community. Many fans and players believe that being open about your rank and skill level helps to build trust and credibility with your audience.

New Dota 2 ranking system

Forsen discovered some flaws in Valve's new ranking system and also addressed that some players have extended their break for the game. So, he decided to use the Glicko algorithm to rank a player. He also used the same system for other games from Valve like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2.

The advantages of the new algorithm help to calculate the rank with more accuracy. So, the rankings of Dota 2 players were reset with its introduction. It also determines the skill level of the players — whether they are fit for that rank and if not, they will be reverted back to their previous level.

'Best Rank'

Forsen’s fans celebrated his victory and congratulated him on social media. Some fans mentioned Grubby, another popular streamer, in their comments. One person wrote, “Hey grubby first callibrated into herald and is now ancient will be awesome to see his progress”, while another comment reads, “Grubby’s journey all over again." One user wrote about another game he saw on a stream, saying, “Saw clip of this guy running at people as legion and not popping BM for duel, playing against arc that seems to be more experienced than this bracket, no wonder he lost the lane badly.” Another comment referred to Gorc, a popular Dota streamer who has also fallen in rank. The comment reads, “What happened to Gorc man's fallen to Immortal to Guardian.”
