Sky News host Cory Bernardi took out a segment on his program to say that US President Joe Biden is "struggling with dementia" and is not up to the task that he has been "sworn in to do." While Bernardi's segment is being lauded by Biden detractors, many have taken to social media to point out the former Australian senator's controversial views, with some comparing him to American right-wing personalities.

Bernardi is a former Australian politician, who served as Senator for South Australia from 2006 to 2020 and was the leader of the Australian Conservatives, a minor political party he founded in 2017 but disbanded in 2019. He resigned from politics in 2020 and is currently a news show host at Sky News Australia.

In a recent segment, Bernardi spoke about how he believed Biden has dementia. He said that it was "apparent to me during the election campaign, but such was the hatred for Donald Trump by the partisan and poisonous mainstream media, they chose not to highlight anything that might have derailed a Biden victory."

Bernardi continued that "it was quite telling" while "Biden was playing MarioKart and napping all of last weekend, apparently he had no official duties, his ambitious deputy, Kamala Harris was telephoning foreign leaders. That's a novelty for a vice president." Bernardi also said that Biden dismissed the Uighur genocide in China as "just Chinese cultural norms" and then that Biden made a racist comment about television commercials. Bernardi also said Biden said "Blacks, Hispanics, and people who live in the country aren't really smart enough to get online." Bernardi then said, "What a way to offend almost all of your voter base."

Bernardi then admonishes Biden for running for office "knowing that the decline in his capacity was accelerating, and so did the media, and so did the Democratic party, and they all chose to cover it up."

While Bernardi goes on about Biden's so-called dementia, many have taken to social media to call out the right-wing former politician on his views. Bernardi has made controversial remarks on his views in the past, alleging that permitting same-sex marriages would lead to legalized polygamy and bestiality and that women should not seek combat roles in the military.

One user wrote, "This was written by a domestic terrorist enabler." Another tweeted, "Corey Bernardi, one of the greatest political failure stories in recent history, uses his stool on the ⁦@SkyNewsAust toilet to pretend he’s got the intelligence to assess Biden’s mental capacity. “Sound judgement” & “Bernardi” will never mix."

A user tweeted, "This is Cory Bernardi. Far right nutter who said marriage equality would lead to marrying dogs and beastiality being legalised. Too offensive for the major Conservative party in Australia he set up his own. Turned out to be a grift & for loonies. Not ‘media’ & not credible." Another opined, "Yeah, but @corybernardi also believes same-sex marriage leads to polygamy & bestiality, "safe schools programs" to make gay kids feel safer at school "bully" straight kids, human contribution to global warming is questionable & wearing burquas should be outlawed. He's a RW tool." A user tweeted, "@corybernardi is the Australian Rush Limbaugh."
