Kissimmee Target shooting: Man dead, 3 injured in deadly gunfire at Florida store

The deadly shooting involved two deputies while two people injured were reportedly running away from law enforcement

KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA: One man is dead following a shooting involving two deputies in Kissimmee, Florida. It happened on Wednesday night, April 27, near the Target in the 4700 block of West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway (US Highway 192). At least three others were injured in the incident. According to Osceola Fire Rescue, one person was taken to the hospital after shrapnel became lodged in his hand while two more people were injured while running away from law enforcement.

A man told FOX 35 that he heard what sounded like gunshots and saw several people apparently running for cover. Osceola County Sheriff Marcos R Lopez said two of his deputies were involved in the shooting and they are doing well. He declined to provide any information on the shooting itself or what led up to the shooting. “I’m not going to be commenting because the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is actually going to assume this investigation and we don’t want to step on their toes,” Lopez said before walking away from the media without answering questions.The agency tasked with investigating police-involved shootings.

The parking lot was blocked off with yellow investigative tape and more than a dozen vehicles were in the area, according to a FOX 35 crew. Earlier on April 27, a Kissimmee police officer was fired, accused of threatening to kill fellow officer. Jeff Allen, Journalist tweeted "UPDATE: @OsceolaSheriff confirms two deputies involved in the shooting are okay, but one man is dead. FDLE will investigate. Most of the crime-scene activity appears to be right in front of the Target in this shopping center off 192 in Kissimmee."
