MIAMI, FLORIDA: Republican Ron DeSantis won the election on Tuesday, November 8, as he defeated Democrat Charlie Crist and is ready to serve for his second term. DeSantis is the youngest governor in the United States and has stayed as Florida's governor since 2018. The elections come at a crucial time as the state is still recovering from the devastating Hurricane Ian. The storm further provided DeSantis with a platform to deliver as a finisher issue in the final stretch of his campaign.

The 44-year-old governor was the surprise winner in the 2018 GOP primary. However, DeSantis was endorsed by then-President Donald Trump which helped him propel and cover the distance. This time around, DeSantis was up against a candidate, Charlie Crist, who has already served as Florida's governor from 2007 to 2011 becoming the 44th governor, but as a Republican. Crist's campaign revolved around criticizing DeSantis and targeting moderate voters with the hopes of bringing back the Democrats in the state. Often referred to as one of the largest swing states in the U.S., the city has gone twice for Barack Obama and twice for Trump. The live poll provided by the Associated Press indicates DeSantis sitting at 59% with a 42,79,671 vote count, and Charlie Crist sitting at 40.3% with a 29,22,714 vote count. DeSantis also changed the tides by winning a heavily Democrat-influenced Miami-Dade.

Truly an unprecedented level of dominance. Incredible. Being right on covid has its rewards. Well done, guys. Love it." Another user tweeted, "Ron DeSantis handily winning reelection is massive. He correctly identified that “experts™” had absolutely no idea what they were doing, that Fauci was an incompetent disaster and masks didn’t work Hard to imagine being more jealous of anything than I am of Florida right now"

One user tweeted, "Ron DeSantis winning big in Florida isn't surprising. He consolidated the Hispanic vote. He utilized Florida becoming the capital of the Republican Party. DeSantis whether folks like it or not is a likely '24 Republican presidential contender. #Midterms #DeSantis" Another user compared DeSantis' 2022 win with his 2018 win writing, "Ron DeSantis’s winning margin in 2018 was less than 35K votes. He’s now on track to win by more than 1 million votes. Holy shit."

One user wrote, "Ron DeSantis is STOMPING Charlie Crist in Florida right now. He's winning the early vote in Miami-Dade County which (according to NYT) voted for Hillary Clinton by almost 30 points in 2016. Thank you for all you do for America. Make America Florida Again!
