LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA: A fired Loudoun County School superintendent was indicted by a grand Virginia jury just a week after the jury issued a scathing report detailing the school district’s “lack of accountability” while handling two sexual assaults by a male pupil.

Scott Ziegler was terminated on December 6 in a unanimous decision by the board after a closed two-and-a-half-hour session. The decision was made after the grand jury investigation proved Ziegler lied when he claimed there were no records of the two sexual assaults. The first sexual assault took place in May last year when a 15-year-old boy in a skirt raped his female classmate in a transgender-friendly restroom at Stone Bridge High School in Virginia. The boy was then moved from the school and was found guilty of sexually assaulting a different girl at a different school in October 2021. The indictment also refers to the firing of a special needs teacher, who complained about being assaulted by a student.

Following the indictment, Ziegler was charged with one count of misdemeanor false publication, one count of misdemeanor prohibited conduct, and one count of misdemeanor penalizing an employee for a court appearance. His spokesperson, Wayde Byard, was also slapped with a count of felony perjury. Ziegler told The Washington Post that he will fight the charges. "I am disappointed that an Attorney General-controlled, secret, and one-sided process — which never once sought my testimony — has made such false and irresponsible accusations," Ziegler said in a statement. "I will vigorously defend myself. I look forward to a time when the truth becomes public."

Scott Smith, the father of one of the rape victims, said he hopes the indictment will bring down "the wall between LCPS and the moms and dads of Loudoun County," adding he wants to see further action. "This is just the beginning, this isn't the end," he said, according to Daily Mail. "Our victory will be short-lived if we don't get the school board to make major changes like a step-down." Smith earlier made headlines after he reacted with fury to Ziegler’s claims during a meeting that he had no record of any sexual assaults at the schools.

Scott and his wife Jessica initially requested that the youngster receive treatment for rehabilitation rather than being sent to jail right away. But now that the second incident, involving a different girl, has come to light, Scott has called the boy a "psychopath" and warned that "we are going to hear about him again." As per Daily Mail, earlier this month, a devastated Scott told Fox News, "They just lie lie lie. I can show you the picture of what he looked like that day it's on my phone."

“There was no kilt about it. I think he decided who he was and what he was on a daily basis," he added. "I've seen evidence since that, unfortunately, my wife and I, we fought very hard to get this child treatment, and then evidence revealed to us after the fact that this kid's a psychopath. He's a sexual predator and unfortunately, we're going to hear about him again."
