'The Bachelorette' 2022: Fans broken-hearted after Grandpa John turns down Jesse's offer to become next 'Bachelor'

Now that Grandpa John has turned down the offer to become the next bachelor, fans want to see him on Kaitlyn Bristowe's podcast

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bachelorette Gabby Windey's grandfather, John, has taken on the role of unofficial grandpa for the whole Bachelor Nation. After making his big TV debut when Gabby was a contestant on Clayton Echard's season of 'The Bachelor,' he made two separate appearances for Season 19 of 'The Bachelorette.'

Fans were ecstatic to see Grandpa John during the Season 19 finale part 2 of 'The Bachelorette', and they reacted on Twitter. They were dismayed, however, when he turned down Jesse Palmer's offer to be the next bachelor. Since the Bachelor Nation has grown to know Grandpa John and how close he is to Gabby, they have yearned to see him more on the screen. Grandpa John for 'The Bachelor' always ended up trending whenever the show name-dropped or featured him.

Gabby and Erich Schwer confirmed their engagement during Tuesday's three-hour live finale. Erich is also the only guy from Season 19 who has previously met Grandpa John on his first one-on-one date with Gabby. Grandpa John called Erich some type of bleeped-out moniker before meeting him again during the first part of the finale. But we all know that's a word of endearment for Grandpa John, who affectionately refers to his cherished granddaughter Gabby as a dingbat.

During part 2 of the finale, Grandpa John was sitting among the live-audience, seeing his adoring granddaughter profess the love of her life. People were moved to tears when Erich said that he wasn't sure if he could live up to the quality and level that Gabby deserved, but swiftly added that he aspires to be that person for her, working for her every day. Not to mention loving Grandpa John in the corner of the frame, crying over his granddaughter's joy. When questioned about Erich, he says he's always known he's the one for Gabby.

Jesse Palmer posed the million-dollar question that the Bachelor Nation had been waiting for after a fluffy banter with Grandpa John. Jesse asks Grandpa John whether he'd like to be the bachelor, and Grandpa John says firmly NO! This probably shattered more hearts than Rachel and Tino's breakup. Fans quickly took to Twitter to express their emotion: "Grandpa John just broke all our hearts. #TheBachelorette #thebachelorettes." Another fan wrote: "Grandpa John had zero chill when Jesse asked if he would ever consider being the Bachelor. That was a HARD no #TheBachelorette." Earlier some fans shared their idea of double bachelor featuring their favorite men: "Double bachelor season. Ethan and Grandpa John. #TheBachelorettes." Not amused by the rest of the episode, one fan wrote: "Throw the whole entire show and season away.... Can we just get a show with Grandpa John...#TheBachelorette."

Fans who were quick to notice Bachelorette alum Kaitlyn Bristowe sitting next to Grandpa John and they couldn't be more pump for the duo: "Now what I need is for Kaitlyn and Grandpa John to become best friends. #TheBachelorette." Some fans didn't hesitate to throw in some ideas for a project featuring the two: "Kaitlyn and Grandpa John buddy cop comedy please #TheBachelorette." A fan also wrote how they would like to see Grandpa John join Kaitlyn on her podcast: "Seeing Kaitlin and Grandpa John sitting next to each other makes me want them to have a conversation on her podcast please #TheBachelorette." Whereas, some fans were simply happy with whatever Grandpa John they could get during the finale: "Grandpa John screen time is all I needed tonight #TheBachelorette #bachelorette."
