Weslee Allison: Family pleads for help after teen footballer, 18, is diagnosed with rare form of cancer
LOS BANOS, CALIFORNIA: Few months ago a teenager and his family were left devastated after the former one was found positive for a rare form of cancer. Weslee Allison’s family is now urging for some monetary aid to keep their son happy and well amid the health battle.
As per Fox26News, the teenager initially felt some difficulties with his left ear and eyes, which he regarded as some day-to-day health issues. Weslee’s father Chris Allison shared, “We basically pretty much all this year we thought he has a sinus infection and kept sending him back to the doctor, back to the doctor before we finally got to a specialist.”

However, after consulting an expert in Salinas, they learnt that the 18-year-old is suffering from Burkitt’s Lymphoma Cancer, which the National Cancer Institute defines as “aggressive (fast-growing) type of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that occurs most often in children and young adults. The disease may affect the jaw, central nervous system, bowel, kidneys, ovaries, or other organs.
“There are three main types of Burkitt lymphoma (sporadic, endemic, and immunodeficiency related). Sporadic Burkitt lymphoma occurs throughout the world, and endemic Burkitt lymphoma occurs in Africa. Immunodeficiency-related Burkitt lymphoma is most often seen in AIDS patients,” the definition added.
Describing the struggles he has been facing, Weslee said, “It did affect a lot of my daily life at first like you know the pains and everything made it really hard to do stuff like I had weight lifting. I had a class that was for that and I couldn't even do that because of the pain.” Revealing the diagnosis, Chris reportedly stated that a big tumor was discovered in his son’s head. The father also noted that several small tumors have been discovered in the star footballer’s body resulting in his absence from most of his senior year.
Weslee stated, “I was gone a lot. Even the three weeks I was there because I was at the doctors but now I can't go back because of my immune system so I have to do online school,” before adding, “I was very social before like I would just go to my friend's houses all the time and honestly not really home a lot because I was always out with a friend or spending time with somebody and now not being able to do that at all, it's not great.”
But according to Weslee’s father his son is still strong. Chris shared, “He's always been my workhorse here and around the house, you know? You need a job done whether it's heavy lifting, you need something that acquires strength, Weslee is the one we go to. Even when he's in a walker or a wheelchair he's still one of the strongest people I know.”
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe started by Weslee’s sister Kylee Allison has received over $5K out of its $10,000 goal. The message on the page reads, “We have found ourselves stretched financially due to those of us who work needing to take time off, and the costs of driving and food. Our number one priority though is Weslee and helping him be comfortable through this horrible ordeal. These funds will go into not only replenishing what we’re using due to costs of travel and stay, but to also keep Weslee’s spirits high.”
