After news emerged that Ezra Miller had allegedly taken an 18-year-old girl hostage and fled, many on social media demanded an earnest campaign similar to the one that led to the discovery of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie's remains.

Last week, 18-year-old Tokata Iron Eyes's parents were able to get a protective order against Miller. In a lawsuit, the parents claimed that the actor, who identifies as non-binary and queer and uses the pronouns they/them, supplied drugs and alcohol to their underage daughter. Miller was accused of using violence and other methods of intimidation. The protective order was issued last week by the Standing Rock Sioux tribal court in North Dakota but the court couldn't locate Miller and hence they weren't served with the papers.

Social media had proven to be instrumental in the discovery of Brian Laundrie's remains in October 2021. The 23-year-old was a person of interest in the death of his girlfriend Gabby Petito while the couple was on a cross-country road trip. The discovery of Laundrie's remains concluded a massive search campaign that included widespread efforts by internet sleuths who explored various theories on what transpired as well as the killer's possible whereabouts.

Comparing the sensational case to Miller's alleged abduction of Tokata, many on social media slammed the apparent lack of efforts to locate the actor.

"Last year there was a manhunt for mentally unstable Brian Laundrie and his victim Gabby Petito. Before he killed her and then committed suicide, social media was frantic with fear. This year it’s Ezra Miller though, so let’s just use social media to make Flash jokes," one tweeted.

"This whole thing makes me so f***ing angry. This would've been national goddamned news if it had been Ezra and Gabby Petito but because the victim is Native nobody gives a s***," another bemoaned.

"Y’all examined every single pixel and frame of available footage of gabby petito from right before her disappearance but will take a statement from an indigenous person, that could’ve been made under coercion or trauma bond at face value even though Ezra has a history of abuse," someone else added.

"Ezra needs to let tokata go, what he's doing is disgusting. Enough native women have gone missing, meanwhile this case is happening in front of us and it's not headline news. This just goes to show how they'll plaster Gabby Ps story everywhere but a native w/a rich white guy? No," a comment read.

"The best way to find Ezra Miller is to hire the bored women on TikTok who found Gabby Petito and dug up all the old Amber Heard clips. They're the best detectives," another quipped.

Tokata reportedly met Miller, 29, when she was 12. At the time, the 23-year-old Miller visited their reservation in North Dakota. Tokata's parents said that Miller and their daughter developed a friendship and that he even flew her to London to visit the 'Fantastic Beasts' studio two years later. They have also alleged that Tokata dropped out of school in December after Miller disrupted her Massachusetts private schooling. People reported that the actor displayed "cult-like psychological manipulation" and had "controlling behavior", according to her parents. "Ezra uses violence, intimidation, threat of violence, fear, paranoia, delusions, and drugs to hold sway over a young adolescent Tokata," the lawsuit read as Tokata's family sought a protective order for their daughter.

The embattled parents said they found bruises on Tokata's body when they went to Miller's home in Vermont in January to retrieve her after she dropped out. They also found that she did not have her driving license, car keys, or a bank card with her. Despite being brought back to her parents' home, Tokata fled to New York again to meet Miller. The two have since been traveling together to Vermont, Hawaii, and Los Angeles.

Tokata, however, dismissed her parents' claims in a social media post last week. "I'd like to make a statement to acknowledge the tragedy that is the narrative of the general public and the assumptions made on my behalf by my family and friends regarding my stability and otherwise," she wrote on Instagram.

"I dropped out of bard five months ago, my friend and comrade William passed shortly thereafter, my mind was incredibly impacted and I've needed space and time for the processing of grief. My comrade Ezra Miller for the entirety of the aforementioned era has only provided loving support and invaluable protection throughout this period of loss," the teenager added.
