'Ex on the Beach': Aubrey O'Day's move to promote 'women empowerment' goes down a treat with fans

From looking out for fellow contestant Shannon Duffy by getting her toxic partner Anthony M kicked off the show to calling out Cameron for being a 'master manipulator' and emphasizing on girl power, Aubrey appears to have taken upon herself to spearhead women empowerment on the show.

Aubrey O’Day of 'Danity Kane' fame has taken on a new role on MTV’s hit reality dating show ‘Ex on the Beach’ as a promoter of “women empowerment”. The reality show which is notorious for portraying women in poor light by showing them indulging in petty catfights over men or being very mean to each other, has turned a new leaf, as dear old Aubrey has taken it upon herself in the current season 3, to ensure that women are treated right, and men are held accountable for their actions.

Shannon who was in an extremely unhealthy and  toxic relationship with Anthony M, was saved by Aubrey as the singer teamed up with the other girls on the show to ensure that Anthony gets kicked off the show, and Shannon get a chance to find love and work on herself when she isn’t constantly around Anthony and his toxicity. This move earned Aubrey several new fans and major respect from all quarters for looking out for Shannon. Aubrey wasn’t the most likable contestant on the show, with her bizarre introduction and her open declaration of love towards Donald Trump Jr., and addressing him as her soulmate. She started off as one of the least liked contestants on the show but over the past few episodes, she has grown on us with her witty commentary and perceptiveness.  A fan commented, “Aubrey is actually winning me over on this show #ExOnTheBeach”, referring to how Aubrey is soon on her way to becoming one of the fan-favorite contestants.

In the previous episode (episode 7), which aired on August 29, we saw Aubrey taking on her new role a lot more seriously when she decided to go all out against “master manipulator” and fellow contestant Cameron Armstrong. To give you a brief recap about Cameron, Cameron was dating Alexis while staying with his ex Ariana. According to Ariana, who made her debut on the show in the previous episode, Cameron told her that Alexis and he weren’t official so they both continued with their business while Cameron was still dating Alexis. To make things worse, Cameron hooked up with fellow contestant Geles on the show before his ex Ariana showed up. So, Cameron clearly was playing the field and having fun while all these women were paying the price for his actions.

Aubrey didn’t take to it very kindly and had a showdown with Cameron and gave him a 101 on how to “speak to women”. She went a step further and in a dramatic public service announcement shared her pearls of wisdom to all the boys that it is extremely unattractive when a boy doesn’t know how to speak to women. To ensure that Cameron owns up to his actions, Aubrey tried to initiate friendship between both his exes- Ariana and Alexis. She said, “It is very easy to excuse a man and allow him to be a f**king dog when you’re focused on hating the female and am stopping it here.” Both Alexis and Ariana agree with Aubrey and seemed open to put their differences behind, as a trembling Cameron started dreading this new development. Fans are very happy with Aubrey’s moves as a fan tweeted,  “#womenempowerment yeasss kudos to aubrey for trying to get Ari and Alexis to be on good terms... I hate seeing women argue over a man smh #ExOnTheBeach”. Another fan chimed in with, “I love that @AubreyODay is about women empowerment and making Alexis and Ariana not have beef or ill will #ExOnTheBeach”.

Tune in to 'Ex on the Beach' on Thursday nights at 9/8c only on MTV.
