HOUSTON, TEXAS: A Texas woman was rushed to hospital after touching a napkin that was apparently ‘poisoned’. Doctors claim this could be a part of a botched attempt to kidnap the woman.

Erin Mims was celebrating her birthday at a Houston restaurant with her husband when she noticed a napkin wedged into the door handle of her car while they were leaving, she recalled in a Facebook video. Mims said she is a ‘germaphobe’ and hesitates to touch anything but that day she just tossed the napkin away thinking it was a prank done by her husband.

'When my husband got off the phone, I asked him, "Did you put a napkin in my door?" and he was like "no." Immediately, I started looking for hand sanitizer. I went inside, washed my hands, and maybe like two minutes later my fingertips started tingling,' Mims recalled.

'After five minutes, my whole arm started tingling, then it starts to feel numb, I got lightheaded, I felt like I couldn't breathe, [and] it got hot. It was just a whole bunch of different feelings at one time. I started to panic.'

After noticing her arm getting tingled, her husband called 911 and she was rushed to Houston Healthcare hospital, where doctors ran urine samples, blood tests, as well as a CAT scan and determined that the vitals were not in place. “The doctor came in, and told me it wasn’t enough in my system to determine what it was, but said it was acute poisoning from an unknown substance,” Mims said.

The medical experts were concerned that this poisoned napkin can be a failed attempt of kidnapping her. "All I could do was think about my babies. It was the scariest moment of my life," added Erin.

Trying to aware people, Mims shared her worry on social media, where she received comments suggesting similar scenarios have happened to other people, although this has not been verified. Erin has filed an assault report with local police who are claiming that their office hadn't received a similar complaint before.

Mark Winter, managing director of the Southeast Houston Poison Center, said that Mims’ symptoms as described match hundreds of poisons. “The probability is that you would have to have a lot more than just a casual exposure,” Winter said. “In her video, her symptoms match hundreds of different poisons. It is possible. I’ve learned over my 40 years, that anything is possible when it comes to the human body.”
