On Sunday night, the best of 2020 in television was honoured at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards.Maria Schrader won for "Unorthodox", in Outstanding Directing For A Limited Series, Movie Or Dramatic Special the category.

Schrader with 'Unorthodox' edged out its competitors Little Fires Everywhere (Find A Way, Lynn Shelton), Normal People (Episode 5, Lenny Abrahamson), Watchmen (Little Fear Of Lightning, Steph Green), Watchmen (This Extraordinary Being, Stephen Williams) and Watchmen (It’s Summer And We’re Running Out Of Ice, Nicole Kassell).

Unlike previous years, the Emmys 2020 has ditched the usual star-studded red carpet and awards ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for a virtual ceremony, on account of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, nominees were sent a kit -- a camera, laptop, ring light, and microphone -- so that they can broadcast themselves from their homes, or wherever they are stationed.

Jimmy Kimmel, who hosts the show this year, shared a video of himself with a giant bubble hours before going live from the Staples Center. “I’m fully-laminated and ready to host the #Emmys LIVE tonight at 8e|5p on #ABC!,” he wrote on Instagram. It has been an exciting night, and 'Schitts Creek' fans were beside themselves with joy as they won over 7 awards for their comedy show.
