YouTube sleuths have forever visited the infamous Hotel Cecil for its alleged history of hauntings and gory crimes in its premises. And joining the slew is yet another TikToker, whose recent investigation at the Los Angeles accommodation has led to speculation that the spirit of Elisa Lam probably still haunts the hotel. The reason? TikToker Kris Star, who recently visited the premises with the team, claims there was an alleged paranormal entity that took the dead girl's name.

The shocking incident of Lam happened years ago, in 2013 when the 21-year-old Canadian tourist's body was found floating in the rooftop water tank. Lam had been missing for weeks before she was found. Since the police released the video footage of her in her final hours before her alleged drowning, people have been left shocked and unnerved. Lam's story was once again highlighted through a four-part Netflix documentary, probably spurring the interest of Internet detectives visiting the hotel in pursuit of finding out the truth once again.

Elisa Lam: How 'creepy' elevator video at Cecil Hotel with mystery shoe fueled Internet theories on her death

One such Internet detective happened to be a ghost hunter on TikTok, who goes by the name Kris Star. With nearly 250,000 followers, Star visited the hotel with her team, specifically in search of Lam's spirit as the hotel already has quite the name for being haunted. This comes from the many deaths — both suicides and murders alike — that have occurred in the hotel, and its elaborate history of lodging serial killers in the past.

Star has posted two videos from her stay at the hotel. One of the videos posted on Wednesday has gone viral with nearly 200,000 views; it features the hotel's room No 506, the same one Lam had stayed in before her death. The video features a horde of background noises that Star claims are of "the elevator going off" by itself. "I don't know who's doing it. There's nobody over here," she says in the video, even though the said elevator isn't featured.

In the second video that she posted on Tiktok, their group can be seen attempting to communicate with Lam through an alleged spirit box. The device is often used by ghost hunters to try and communicate with paranormal entities through radio frequencies. Shockingly, words, including Lam's full name, appear to come from the box, but it's strangely clear and sharper than the regular clarity of such equipment. Star also clarifies that they got exclusive access to the hotel, even after it was closed in 2017 for extensive renovations after a real estate developer bought the establishment.

Although Lam's death was ruled as an accidental drowning, the Netflix documentary shed light on Internet sleuths claiming the incident was a shoddy cover-up. Questions surrounding how she managed to get atop the roof still haven't been answered. The video footage that the police had released sees Lam behaving strangely, which a lot of people have claimed to seem supernatural. It shows Lam pushing multiple buttons, briefly exiting just to re-enter. She also makes strange hand gestures, and even appears to hide. Some also claim she was trying to hide from potential danger, perhaps the person who was responsible for her death.

The documentary also discusses Lam's mental state at the time of her tragic death, citing her diagnosis of bipolar disorder, and addressing her parents' claims of Lam often going off medication. Many people allude to her strange elevator video as a manic episode. The prospect of homicide was dismissed due to the absence of physical trauma on the body of the young woman. There are also discrepancies surrounding the lid of the water tank inside which her body was found. The circumstances of her body being discovered were also peculiar and happened after a 19-day extensive search when maintenance did a check following reports of odd tasting murky water from the hotel's taps.
