QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA: An Australian bus driver was hailed as an "absolute legend" for his "beautiful act of kindness" recently. The footage of an unnamed man coming to the aid of a huge snake lying middle of a busy road went viral. The elderly bus driver from Queensland, Australia, was lauded for his timely action to put the snake out of harm's way.

According to Nine News, the man was driving on the Gold Coast when he spotted an enormous snake crossing the road near Tugan. He pulled the vehicle pulled over at the traffic lights while still in motion to save the snake from being crushed at the busy crossing. The video of the selfless act did rounds on social media, amassing more than 620K views and 3,500 comments.

'Act of kindness'

According to the viral footage captured by a witness, the man can be seen going over to the snake laying middle of the road and bending down He then nonchalantly picked it up by its tail while many vehicles were speeding by. Then the man crosses the road while holding the snake in front of him as it appears to be bewildered and writhes and coils in the air.

The bus driver is then shown scurrying along a sidewalk until he arrives at a patch of grass where he eventually releases his rescuee. He checks on the snake for a moment to make sure it's okay, then takes a few steps away, not before telling a passerby not to step on the snake.

After the video went viral on social media, several users eagerly applauded the transport worker's kind deed. “Good job Mr. Bus Driver,” one person wrote. “What a great guy!” chimed another. “Absolute legend, I am so glad he did it,” commented another. "What a bloody legend!!" one user tweeted.

“There is far too much hatred towards snakes. They don’t deserve it. Thank you for saving this gorgeous snake, hats off to you buddy,” one person wrote in the comment section. “[A] beautiful act of kindness going beyond protecting our animals,” added another.

Some even demanded that the "all-around nice bloke" should receive a raise or a promotion. “Bus driver for prime minister,” one person joked. “Australian of the year,” another agreed. "Champion effort," one user tweeted.
