'DWTS' Britney Week: JoJo Siwa gets top scores, judges call her 'liquid sunshine'

A long time fan of Britney Spears, JoJo Siwa opened up about how she understands that there is a darker side to fame

With Britney Week here on 'Dancing With The Stars', each of the dancing duos are really bringing the heat. For most of these stars, their connection with Britney is longstanding as nearly all of them are ardent fans of her work. However, for JoJo Siwa, this performance was definitely a personal one.

Siwa, much like Spears began her career very young, with Siwa being on TV since age 9. From, music to movies and concerts, Siwa and Spears have been through it all and seen it all, from the fun of being famous to the ugly sides of it as well, as Siwa mentioned prior to her performance. This week, she and pro Jenna Johnson danced the Argentine Tango to '… Baby One More Time' by Britney Spears.

Here's what the judges had to say -- Len Goodman was all praises as he declared it to be a well-crafted routine. Bruno Tonioli stated it was a tilting performance, while Carrie Ann Inaba pointed out that Siwa was like liquid sunshine on the dance floor. More importantly, she led with clarity and intention and all the men on the show could stand to learn from her. Siwa scored a total of 24 points out of 30. 

Fans agreed with she was truly going the most on the show. "Didn’t know what to expect from jenna, but im seriously impressed w her partnering of jojo. shes not trying to shoehorn them into traditional m/f roles. she’s embracing what it means to see two women dance together + nail the techniques as required. shes earned my respect #dwts" tweeted a fan. "JoJo Siwa after carrying the entire season 30 of #DWTS" joked a fan. "Let’s go lesbians #jojo we need to keep jojo and Jenna safe until the finale!!! #DWTS30 #Jnation #Dwts" added a user.

However, fans couldn't help but notice that the judges were inconsistent with feedback and criticism, especially when it came to Siwa and Cody Rigsby. "@carrieanninaba praises Matt for his “effort” for his arm being up. Jojo for being groundbreaking. Yet Cody gets penalized for having to dance by himself. "Sooo they’re gonna judge Jojo harshly because she has prior dance experience, but not give Cody a break because he has covid, was on Skype, and danced alone?!? #DWTS" asked another.
