NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: An incident of domestic violence resulted in a deadly tragedy after an ex-MMA fighter allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend 17 times before stuffing her body in a closet. Dwayne Herelle Jr, 28, was arrested and charged with murder after he confessed to killing Irene Torres, 24, following an argument.
Sources reportedly said that Torres broke-up with Herelle and started her new life when he showed up outside her Tennessee home, that she shared with her parents. Herelle stabbed her to death on January 29 and lied to her parents about her whereabouts before confessing to what he had done.

How did Irene Torres die?
Herelle was waiting for Torres to return home from work when he “snuck up from behind and ambushed her,” Torres's elder sister, Reyna Douglas, said. “She was dragged and stabbed repeatedly in front of her parent’s home,” Douglas wrote on the GoFundMe page created for her sister. The 24-year-old was stabbed “in the excess of 17 times," a court heard on Wednesday, February 15, according to WKRN. Douglas called her sister's homicide a "senseless tragedy," adding that her memory would always live on, per the New York Post.
Herelle then allegedly dragged Torres' body from her home and placed it in his car's trunk before driving home. The horrifying ordeal was caught on the surveillance camera of Torres' home. According to the police, Herelle then stuffed her remains inside a storage bin and stashed it in his closet. After Torres' parents started growing concerned about her whereabouts, they reviewed the surveillance footage outside their home and discovered what had happened.
Irene Torres was 'physically and emotionally' abused
In the video, Herelle could be seen dragging their daughter outside their home. Her father allegedly confronted him as he had initially said that their daughter was in a hotel before confessing to the murder and revealing where her body was hidden. Metro Nashville Police Department Detective Derry Baltimore said that the pair got into an argument before the attack, according to the local outlet. The court also heard that Herelle dumped Torres' bloody pants and a purse in a dumpster behind a grocery store.
Douglas wrote on the fundraiser that her sister was physically and emotionally abused. “While most 24-year-olds are planning their careers, and futures, and are optimistic about the world, Irene spent some of the last months of her young life abused, degraded, terrorized, and fearful,” Douglas wrote, adding, “Irene showed immense bravery in leaving her abusive relationship and was so happy to start her new life with the support of her family, only to be hunted down in her front yard and brutally murdered one month later.”
