‘Dressing for revenge’: Internet reacts over Kim Kardashian sporting Adidas amid brand’s controversy with Ye
HIDDEN HILLS, CALIFORNIA: The Kardashians are no strangers to controversy. And recently, Kim Kardashian set a few sparks flying after her latest Instagram post. The SKIMS founder posted a new photo to her social media account that features the starlet in a brand with which her ex-husband, Kanye "Ye" West, is currently embroiled in a dispute. So is Kim sending a clear message through her latest choice in fashion, or was it just a fluke?
Well, whatever the answer to that question might be, Kim surely put her best foot forward as she snapped the photo! ‘The Kardashians’ star chose a gray turtle neck sweatshirt with black stripes along the shoulders and arms from the Adidas x Balenciaga collaboration. She styled the athleisurewear with a pair of the tiniest black athletic shorts with three white stripes. For the added “Kardashian style,” Kim finished the look with a baggy pair of black thigh-high boots in leather. While Kim’s look was totally on point, and many followers loved her style, a few netizens noted Kim’s choice of brand to be a statement.

Many swarmed the reality star’s Instagram comments section to express their views. One person questioned, “Adidas? Really?” While another responded with, “The shade is unreal.” Someone also commented on the post, “Petty queen wearing adidas.” And a person wrote, “Lately you’ve been dressing for revenge.” A netizen even stated, “Adidas when your baby daddy is in war with them... interesting choice. Like boots with workout clothing.” While another called her out, penning, “Why would you wear adidas considering you are affiliated with Yeezy?” And one wrote, “All of a sudden she wears ADIDAS a clear message.”
Many think Kim wearing Adidas was a jab at her ex-husband Ye. The company dropped Ye after his antisemitic statements. But Adidas will apparently continue to sell the lucrative sneaker and apparel line designed under Ye’s reign, stripped of the Yeezy name and branding. Ye, in response, stated that he would be selling hoodies he had developed in collaboration with the brand and the other notable brands that dropped him for $20, possibly out of revenge. So perhaps posing in the brand's clothing is Kim's way of distancing herself from her ex and the controversy after all.
