A flyer with the 'Save America' masthead has been circulating online. The flyer claims to contain Donald Trump's statement regarding the 'Rust' shooting involving Alec Baldwin as he discharged a live gun while enacting a scene. A bullet fatally struck the movie's award-winning cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. The text on the flyer read, "A great President (me) once said ‘I could shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters.’ Now Alec Baldwin, a total loser, has taken his impression of me to a new low by testing out his theory. Alec, you aren’t me! Now you’re going to prison, as you should have because of that terrible job you did on SNL (which I have hosted).”

Social media users immediately took this opportunity to bash Trump. "Just in case anyone thought Trump couldn't get any lower, more despicable, uglier, he's now suggesting Alec Baldwin actually loaded the gun himself. Of course, Trump knows this isn't true, but he gets himself off just putting it out there," a tweet read. "I hope Alec Baldwin sues Trump for slander. TFG opens his big mouth and spews ugliness. It’s way beyond time he was held accountable for his words," another user tweeted. "Trump suggests Alec Baldwin may have shot Rust crew members on purpose: ‘Maybe he loaded it’. Or maybe it was a disgruntled Trump-Supporting employee Donald. Because that was the first thing that went through my mind," a third tweet claimed.

Did Trump REALLY say Alec Baldwin purposely pointed loaded gun at Hutchins?

According to Reuters fact-checkers, Trump released no such statement on his official website. No record of the statement was found on www.donaldjtrump.com/news. No trace of the statement was found on the web archived version of his website was found. The statement was also not sent out from Trump's spokesperson Liz Harrington's Twitter account. Harrington constantly posts official Trump statements but this one didn't make it on her page. Reuters announced that the flyer was not released by Trump or his camp and that it was fabricated

However, Trump appeared on the 'Christ Stigall' podcast on November 5 where he floated a reckless claim saying, "In my opinion, he had something to do with it. But if nothing else, how do you take a gun, whether it’s loaded or not loaded, how do you take a gun, point it at somebody that’s not even in the movie, and just point it at this person and pull the trigger, and now she’s dead."

Describing Baldwin using the words "sick guy" Trump said, "If they handed me a gun, I would never point it at somebody and shoot it.” He continued to make explosive claims against Baldwin because Stigall ended the interview. “He’s a troubled guy. There’s something wrong with him. I’ve watched him for years. He gets into fistfights with reporters… I mean, everything he does, he’s a volatile guy. He’s a nutjob," Trump added.
