President Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, on Thursday, August 27, accused his father's political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, of having a drug problem and not paying for child support for his newborn. Trump Jr made the remarks during an interview with the Daily Caller and doubled down on an offer to debate Hunter. The Republican said that he is open to debating the Democratic presidential candidate's son, days before their fathers are set to face off for a national debate for the first time.

"I offered to do it. I said I would go full disclosure. I'd show them my tax returns," Trump Jr said. He also listed a number of complaints he had of Hunter's alleged conduct in the past. "The drugs, the hiding from child support payments, alimony, plenty of other personal issues. These things would be front-and-center. But he gets a pass," he  added.

It is not yet clear what the president's son was referring to by "alimony." Hunter, this year, settled a 2019 lawsuit with Arkansas woman Lunden Alexis Roberts and agreed to pay her child support in a paternity case, according to reports.

Trump Jr, on Wednesday, August 26, was accused of being under the influence of cocaine while delivering his speech at the Republican National Convention on Monday night. Multiple social media users had taken to Twitter to point his sweaty forehead and glassy eyes during the speech. Hours after the accusation, the president's son took to his Instagram to post his response to the accusation and instead pointed to Hunter Biden's past drug controversies, saying: "You must have me confused with Hunter Biden."

Trump Jr, during Thursday's interview, also referred to Hunter's connections to China and Ukraine. "...they like to talk about how somehow we are making a lot of money off our father's presidency, they don't talk about Hunter's 1.5billion from China," the Republican said. "If I was taking 30 million dollars a year, annually - not a one time deal - you think the media would have a problem with that? You think it’d be a story? You think it’d be something they would focus on?” he continued.

The president's son also slammed Hunter's links to the Ukrainian oil company Burisma. "If Donald Trump Jr. sat on the board of a Ukrainian oil company for 83 grand a month, not speaking Ukrainian and not knowing anything about oil, I imagine that would be a problem," the 42-year-old said. Trump Jr also addressed popular social media notion that Hunter, who is a Yale-trained lawyer, would beat him on a one-on-one debate if they were to face off each other. The president's eldest son said: "Great. You guys hate my guts. Let him do it. He’ll destroy me. You can put the nail in the coffin of Don Jr. Let’s do it," he said.

His comments came shortly after his father, President Trump, suggested that his political rival, Joe Biden, may be taking mind-enhancing drugs. Trump called for drug tests to be conducted on Biden before he faces off with the Democratic nominee at the first presidential debate next month.
