SARASOTA, FLORIDA: Former president Donald Trump is preparing to get back on Twitter and Facebook. He had previously regained access to his official Twitter account after Elon Musk became the Twitter CEO. 

Now, Trump's campaign has written to Meta, asking to unblock his official Facebook account. The letter read, "We believe that the ban on President Trump’s account on Facebook has dramatically distorted and inhibited the public discourse," as per NBC. However, the Internet is now discussing if Truth Social, the platform he founded, was a failure as he plans to return to other social media giants.

Trump's Facebook account was given a limited ban that would come up for review after two years. The period for the review began on January 7. “Trump is probably coming back to Twitter. It’s just a question of how and when. He’s been talking about it for weeks, but Trump speaks for Trump, so it’s anyone’s guess what he’ll do or say or when," a Republican told NBC on condition of anonymity. 

One of Trump's advisors reportedly claimed that he was likely to examine Section 230 of the federal law affecting social media companies. He claimed, “If Facebook wants to have this fight, fine, but the House is leverage, and keeping Trump off Facebook just looks political." He launched Truth Social on February 21, 2022 and used it as an alternative to Twitter and Facebook following his ban. 

'TruthSocial is a bust'

The Internet quickly reacted to the news of Trump returning to Twitter and Facebook. A user said, "Trump said he’s coming back to twitter confirming Truth Social is a failure." "Should’ve made another ID instead of another platform," read a comment. Another user wrote, "Is it just me or is Trump asking to return to Facebook just a signal that TruthSocial is a bust? #trump #TruthSocial." Another claimed, "So what you are saying is, #TruthSocial is a piece of crap social media platform which is why Trump has to come back to Twitter?."

A user noted, "Umm look at the valuation of TruthSocial vs. the valuation of your tweets and you decide who the failure is." "Good he will be the loser to yet another business deal of his. Bye bye truth social," tweeted a user. Another explained, "Wrong. TruthSocial only reaches the US while Twitter reaches the World. The rest of the World would like to hear what Trump has to say about things too. Please remember the US is not the World." A user questioned, "I’m an American and like hell you speak for me. He has his own platform, let him post his vile gibberish over there. It Truth Social is so great, why does he even need be on Twitter?."

"Trump is a failure. He lost the Presidency. His truth social platform failed so now he is returning to Twitter to spread his lies and evil Elon Musk is letting that happen. They both can't stand truth or justice," claimed another user. Another user noted, "Truth Social is an echo chamber…avid Trump supporters get mad when it’s called that, but it is. No doubt Trump is monitoring Twitter w/o engagement. Not posting on Twitter will be a disadvantage 4 pres. run…he needs more than “MAGA base” to vote 4 him, he needs the Indep. votes." A user added, "So that means that Truth Social is just another in the long string of Trump failures."
