Reality star Dog the Bounty Hunter owes millions in unpaid taxes with debts stretching from Colorado to Hawaii after he failed to search for Brian Laundrie who was considered to be a fugitive for killing Gabby Petito until he was found dead himself. According to recent reports, Dog, real name Duane Chapman, has been hit with over $1.6 million in federal and state tax liens. He recently sold his Florida mansion which was listed for $1.69 million back in October.

According to documents filed with the Department of Taxation, Chapman's state liens in Hawaii pertain to his "individual income" from 2019 and 2014, whereas his lien in the Aloha state is for a total of $72,229. The 69-year-old reality star owes federal taxes for 2014 through 2019, with one lien totaling $799,975 in Douglas County according to records with the Clerk and Recorder's office acquired by The Sun. A second lien filed in Jefferson County, Colorado, reveals that Chapman has another ongoing federal tax lien for tax years from 2014 to 2019 for the amount of $20,147, totaling $800,087. The combined amount sits at $1.6 million.

Dog the Bounty Hunter caught up in a mix

The well-renowned bounty hunter gave the outlet an update on his financial situation and said, "I’ve been working diligently to satisfy these outstanding debts and look forward to putting this behind us." Last year, Chapman jumped on the search for Brian Laundrie who was accused of murdering his fiance Gabby Petito. Laundrie later turned out to be dead after his remains were found in Florida's Myakkahatchee Creek Park on October 20, a month after Petitio was found strangled to death at a campsite in Wyoming.

Back when Chapman was investigating and searching for Brian, he questioned the autopsy of the alleged murderer of Petitio. Brian died by suicide from a single gunshot wound to the head. However, Dog the Bounty Hunter was not convinced of Brian's death even after Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino told The Sun, "Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was suicide." During an appearance on Fox News live, Chapman said, "If he's alive he's going to get arrested...but right now it looks like he committed suicide." He continued saying, "and it's a tragedy for both families." 22-year-old influencer Gabby Petito was found dead when she was on a cross-country trip with Brian.
