Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer will not face charges for an alleged brutal sexual attack on a San Diego woman he met through social media last year as prosecutors were unable to prove woman's accusations beyond a reasonable doubt. The woman identified as Ms Hill alleged that the pitcher choked her into unconsciousness, punched her repeatedly and had sex with her without her consent during two encounters last year.

"After a thorough review of all the available evidence, including the civil restraining order proceedings, witness statements and the physical evidence, the People are unable to prove the relevant charges beyond a reasonable doubt," read a declination filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. The 31-year-old former Cy Young winner won't be charged, in part, because of the text messages sent by the alleged victim to Bauer.

Bauer has stated through his representatives that everything that happened between himself and Hill at his Pasadena home last April and May was 'wholly consensual.' Bauer's lawyers filed text messages between Bauer and Hill, Hill and her cousin. In a text message with Bauer, Hill wrote: "Choke me out…..Never been more turned on in my life…Give me all the pain." In another text message with her cousin, Hill describes sex with Bauer as "consensual".

Hill in her filing claimed that she consented to have sex with Bauer on two occasions, but said he went overboard by punching her, chocking her unconscious, and sodomizing her without her consent. Hill's attorney provided DailyMail with unredacted photos of their client showing the injuries she allegedly suffered as a result of a sexual encounter with Bauer. Her attorney Bryan Freedman in a statement said, "Look at this picture." "No one – absolutely no one – can consent to this, logically or legally. Trevor Bauer's team continues to try to abuse an assault victim. They need to stop. Now."

In July 2021, Ms Hill filed a request for a restraining order against Bauer where she mentioned that she suffered injuries as a result of one encounter, including two black eyes, a bloodied swollen lip, significant bruising and scratching to one side of her face. Based on the order, Bauer, 31, was placed on paid leave under the players’ union and Major League Baseball’s joint domestic violence and sexual assault policy.

Despite Tuesday's news, a league spokesman told DailyMail.com that Bauer remains under investigation by Major League Baseball and his future in Los Angeles remains uncertain. Although MLB remains embroiled in a lockout, Bauer is still under contract with the Dodgers for $32 million and has a player option for the same salary in 2023.
