LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Elizabeth Chambers, wife of disgraced actor Armie Hammer has spoken about the pain she had suffered due to alleged rape allegations against her estranged husband. The couple was married for 10 years and parted ways in 2020. Multiple women have gone on record claiming they were raped by the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ star. In an interview with a leading magazine, Chambers said, "You can give, you can love, you can be there for someone, but you also need to hold people accountable for their actions." She added, “The dissolution of my family was literally my biggest fear of my whole life."

During 2020, the entire family had quarantined together in the Cayman Islands with Hammer’s father and stepmother. A couple of months later, the couple jointly announced on their Instagram account that they will be ending their marriage. Hammer in an interview in September referred to the quarantine time, as "intense" and experienced a feeling of "powerlessness." Whereas, Chambers said "he was the worst" during that period.

Once the allegations started to make the headlines, Chambers claimed she was "learning things as the public was." Several accusations with alleged proof of screenshots started doing the rounds which Hammer had sent to women, "I was like, ‘There are no words.'" The couple has decided to co-parent their two children, Harper, and Ford, and save their kids from any trauma due to their split, "I support Armie through his journey and I always will," Chambers said. "All I’ve ever wanted is for him to be sober, healthy, and happy. And he is that. He’s really present when he’s with the kids, and that’s all I can hope for." She then added, "One day, I want (my children) to be able to say, ‘I am independent of whatever has happened in generations before. I’m aware of it, but I am the person I am not because of where I came from."

'Do I want my son to become this?'

However, Chambers also expressed her concern about the impact the whole thing may have on her children, “Do I want my son to become this? Would I want my daughter to stay in a relationship like this?” Hammer, 36, has admitted to having extra-marital affair and is investigated on alleged charges of sexual assault, emotional manipulation, and fantasies of BDSM involving, cannibalism, according to USA Today. In a detailed interview with Elle Magazine, Chambers further said, “The last thing I ever want to do is let someone else’s actions, which have nothing to do with me, make me angry.”
