Liam Neeson is known for playing characters who overcome any hurdle that stands in their way. However, he admitted that he has been unable to get his way when it comes to matters of the heart, saying that during a recent trip to Australia, he 'fell in love' with an unattainable woman.

Liam Neeson, 68, who hasn't dated since the death of his wife Natasha Richardson 13 years ago, spent six months filming the action flick 'Blacklight' in Melbourne in 2020. Despite the fact that the city was under stage-four Covid lockdown at the time, Neeson became involved in a romantic relationship with a woman, but she was sadly 'taken'.

On Monday, February 7, the 'Taken' star spoke with Sunrise hosts David 'Kochie' Koch and Natalie Barr. He said, "I loved Melbourne. I loved our Australian crew, they are fantastic workers. Every department was superb. They were their own people, do you know what I mean? They had a great sense of humor." With a knowing grin, the Irish star went on to say: "I made a couple of pals... I fell in love, but she was taken."

Koch and Barr said Neeson's revelation 'intrigued' them, and they even begged viewers to assist them to find the mysterious woman. "If you know the lady involved, go to the Facebook page. Give us some hints!" Koch remarked.

Natasha Richardson, Neeson's late wife, died two days after striking her head during a beginner's skiing lesson in Quebec, Canada, in 2009, from an epidural hematoma. In a 2014 interview with CBS's Anderson Cooper on his loss, Neeson described arriving at the hospital following his wife's accident and being told by doctors that she was brain dead.

Since the death of his wife, Neeson has been quiet about his love life, but he did conclude a two-year romance with British publicist Freya St Johnston in 2012. "He told her he wanted to spend more time in New York and that he really wants to make more time for his children," an insider told MailOnline at the time. In September 2010, Freya and Neeson began dating. Their relationship was long-distance, with Neeson living in New York with his sons and Freya in London with her children.

In 2016, Neeson sparked outrage among fans when he claimed to have an 'incredibly famous' girlfriend. The actor remarked in an interview with the Irish Independent that he couldn't reveal who he was dating since she was a well-known celebrity. However, after the gossip spiraled out of control, a spokesman for the actor has now verified that the remark was merely a joke that didn't reflect.

"He was joking with the writer during an interview he was doing with the Irish Independent," a spokesperson for the star disclosed. The actor was asked about Valentine's Day and what he would gift his partner, to which he refused to reveal her identity in his interview.

He said: "I'd embarrass her if I said her name, she's incredibly famous. I'll have to do my best for her. It's amazing how far a simple bunch of freshly picked flowers will go in a lady's life, I find." He went on to say, "I'll send out a few bunches of flowers to various people and I usually just say 'from an Irish admirer'."

Following his statements, there was a lot of speculation about who the lady might be, with names like Susan Sarandon and Halle Berry being mentioned, as well as 'Twilight' actress Kristen Stewart.
