DC cancels bisexual Superman book series after sales drop to just 34,000, fans say 'No one wanted this'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Detective Comics, aka DC Comics, has decided to discontinue a recently issues book series that follows one of the most famous comic book characters of all time - Superman. The book series, 'Superman: Son of Kal-El' is based around Jonathan Kent - son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Jon Kent is, however, bisexual, and in less than a year the sales figures were too disappointing for DC that they have decided to axe it. The publisher announced this news at New York Comic Con that the book's 18th issue, due for release in December, will be its last. People have now come forward to criticize DC for the move, saying "no one wanted this."
'Superman: Son of Kal-El', penned by Tom Taylor, puts the 17-year-old Jon Kent on a distinctive journey that addresses issues like school shootings, climate change, and the deportation of refugees. Debuting in July 2021, months later only Jon Kent began a relationship with a male friend and refugee 'hacktivist' Jay Nakamura. The first issue of the new series sold 68,800 copies. However, the fourth issue sold only 37,500 copies and it then went as down as 34,000 last month as per Comichron. The book series faced immediate backlash, so much so that Gabe Eltaeb, a colorist for DC Comics, quit last year and resurfaced again to celebrate the end of 'Superman: Son of Kal-El'. Many people thought that DC was using LGBTQ as an agenda to tap into a newer audience by making one of their most profitable characters a bisexual. Eltaeb tweeted, "1 year ago, I stood on principle and left @DCComics
for their hating book by SJW narcissist Tom Taylor. I win."

Fans slam DC for imposing bisexual Superman series
One user tweeted, "It would serve DC and other "woke" businesses well to remember that their top priority is to cater to their customer base. No one wanted this." Another user wrote, "And DC wonders why their comic book sales are in the gutter. Corporate been pushing LGBT agenda something fierce. Remember everyone a corporate agenda is an anti-black agenda" One more indirectly took a dig at the overall presentation of the comic saying, "Same thing happened with 'The New Warriors" in Summer 2021. Comic Book Writers have to be able to tell a story, have likable and hated characters (both heroes and villains) with multiple perspectives. Other writers only have to detail their experiences and perspective to make $."

One user compared the reactions to the time when a black mermaid was in talks saying, "Interesting these comments remind me of the backlash against having a black Little Mermaid. Many of the justifications listed here are almost identical in fact." Another user wrote, "They literally are marketing to less than 1 % of the population and think this is a viable business model". Another user believes that the reason behind this failure was the choice of character saying, "This is Superman’s SON not Superman . The problem most people have is that he is a established character they could have made a new character gay instead of a preexisting character and it wouldn’t have been a problem to most normal people ."
