WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA: A Virginia man who killed a married couple, their daughter, and their tenant on Monday, October 17, has been arrested and charged with four counts of murder. Prince William County Police Department confirmed on Tuesday that 24-year-old David Nathaniel Maine has been charged with four counts of second-degree murder and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The victims were identified as Miguel Flores, 44, his wife Kelly Sotelo, 42, and their daughter Karrie Sotelo, 19, by Prince William County Police Chief Peter Newsham, The fourth victim was the tenant of their house, Richard Revollar-Corrales, 37. Police said that the killer was also staying at their home at the time of the shooting and also apparently has a relationship with a person who lived there as well. However, that person was not present in the house during the incident. The police department revealed that the shooting spree happened during a fight that broke out inside the house.

Maine allegedly called 911 and informed the emergency services about the shooting just after the incident. He claimed on the call someone broke into the home. Police detained him in close proximity to the home. A gun was also found at the scene. The entire ordeal was described as "traumatic" by Police Chief Neesham for the officers on the scene. “Police officers are human beings. To go into a home like that and to see anyone that has died as a result of gunshot wounds is just traumatic…,” he said, according to NBC 4 Washington. “But they do it, they do their job, they do it all the time, and hats off to the officers to respond here, to get their wits about them, to be able to handle that trauma and then to be able to get a person of interest.” He further added, "The only word I can use to describe it is senseless." He concluded by saying, "Absolutely senseless... that anyone would take four lives the way that they did," reported WUSA9.

"I'm really shocked because this is a pretty safe neighborhood, and things like this don't really happen here," said one neighbor. Police described the killings of the family members as an isolated incident. They insisted that there was no ongoing threat to the community.
