'Guns are coming from USA': David Hogg THROWN OUT after he slams panel at House gun control meeting
Gun-control activist David Hogg, a former Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student, was removed from a House Judiciary Committee hearing held on Wednesday, July 20, on an assault weapons ban. Hoggs interrupted Rep Andy Biggs (R-AZ) as the lawmaker said people should be armed because of an “invasion” at the US border with Mexico. “You’re reiterating the points of mass shooters in their manifestos,” Hogg shouts as he stands in the hearing room.
In the footage posted on Twitter, Hogg can be seen shouting, “The shooter in my high school: anti-Semitic, anti-black and racist." “The shooter in El Paso describes it as an invasion,” the irate Hogg goes on, referencing a 2019 mass shooting in a Texas Walmart that killed 23 people. “Guess what? Those guns are coming from the United States of America, they aren’t coming from Mexico". Security guards then escort Hogg out of the room as he continues shouting. “They are not coming from Mexico, you are reiterating the points of a mass shooter, sir,” Hogg says. “Sir, you are perpetuating violence.” Hogg also shared the video of his removal from the committee room on Instagram. "I just got kicked out of Congress and I would do it again." I'm sick of hearing Republicans repeat the same talking points as mass shooters," the caption read.

Earlier in the hearing, members heard audio from the Stoneman Douglas shooting, which killed 17 people. On the audio, screams were heard as rapid-fire shots rang out over one minute and 18 seconds. The Judiciary Committee met to discuss the Assault Weapons Ban of 2021 and the Equal Access for Victims of Gun Violence Act.
We have a duty to interrupt white nationalists when they spew harmful rhetoric. We have to, they’re using the same talking points as mass shooter manifestos.

Here’s my reflections and some context. https://t.co/lrz8RMBc84 pic.twitter.com/dTb6YpDLZO
The hearing comes in the aftermath of a string of mass shootings that have renewed pressure on lawmakers to take action on gun control. Gunmen armed with semi-automatic rifles killed 10 Black people in a Buffalo, New York, grocery store; 19 children and two adults in a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school; and seven people in a Highland Park, Illinois, July 4 parade.
The hearing comes as House Democrats push for a ban on semiautomatic weapons in the aftermath of a string of deadly mass shootings with high death tolls and gunmen typically armed with high-capacity weapons. According to NY Post, the bill is expected to die before it reaches President Joe Biden's desk. Some House Democrats are hesitant to act on the ban before the November midterm elections, and Democrats can only lose four votes if all House Republicans vote against it. Even if it gets through the House, it’s likely to fail in the Senate.
“There are more guns than people in this country, more mass shootings than days in the year,” Rep David Cicilline (D-RI) said during the hearing. “This is a uniquely American problem, and assault weapons only magnify the epidemic.” Republicans have described the proposal as an invasion of the Second Amendment. "The Democrats have been running a propaganda campaign for over 30 years to convince people that 'assault weapons' are a specific class of firearms that no one needs."
Hogg has been an outspoken advocate for lawmakers to act, sparring on Twitter with pro-gun Rep Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) and supporting a Senate gun reform bill.
After Hogg was removed, Rep Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) said, “I just want to respect the gentleman who could not take it anymore and had to express himself. I acknowledge his pain.” She argued that the ban would only prohibit "warlike weapons," not disarm Americans in general and that such weapons would not be taken from the US military. “None of the debate on the other side is enlightening. It’s rather insulting. It’s nothing to do with reality,” Jackson said.
Many Twitter users supported Hogg, A user wrote, "🔥🔥🔥!! Thank you David for your advocacy and passion on Gun Control. I’m with you. We need to #BanAssaultWeaponsNow and regulate these dangerous Ghost Guns. We also need to elect people in November who will stand up for Gun Control. Spread this video far and wide."

However, there were many who did not acknowledge Hogg's point and slammed him. "Nicholas CRUZ (hispanic) Salvador Ramos (hispanic) you make no point. The FX 05 is price competitive to the AR15 which is where they were going until you interrupted. Colt is not the only manufacturer of such rifles. These are some Mexican models sold in the US".
