SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: David DePape, the man accused of attacking Paul Pelosi with a hammer who narrowly escaped his death, had a list of further other that included Hunter Biden, Tom Hanks, and California Governor Gavin Newsom, according to testimony in court on Wednesday, December 14.

On Wednesday, San Francisco Police Department Sergeant Carla Hurley testified as a witness. The list of targets was admitted by David DePape in an interview after his arrest. He had gone to the Pelosis' home with the goal of kidnapping Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In a video of the interview shown to the court, DePape made sweeping accusations against Pelosi and the Democratic Party. He also stated that his burglary was the beginning of a larger crime spree. Hurley testified that the 42-year-old DePape informed her that some of his other targets were Newsom, Hanks, Biden and Gayle Rubin, a professor at the University of Michigan who specializes in writing about sex, gender and queer theory.

DePape's target choice and justification were ambiguous, going beyond a general dislike of Democratic Party officials and left-leaning people. "There is evil in Washington. It's this f*****g record-breaking crime spree!" DePape stated in the video.

"The Democratic Party was for the past four years," DePape continued. "This was f*****g insane... So not only were they spying... they were spying, covering it up... They go from one crime to another crime, it's the whole f*****g 4 years."

DePape claimed that after entering the Pelosi home, he told Paul Pelosi that he couldn't be stopped. He stated, "I explained to him — I have other targets. I can't be stopped. If you are willing to stop me, I'm not going to be stopped here."

Many people on Twitter were surprised to see Tom Hanks on the hit list with one writing, "Seriously? Tom Hanks? I mean, of all the people in the world, Tom Hanks?" Another person tweeted, "Tom Hanks? - who the frack would go after America's Dad, what is wrong with these people?"

DePape stated that he believed he was on a "suicide mission" and that he was "not going to stand here and do nothing even if it costs me my life," in a previously made public excerpt from a police interview. Hurley testified in court that she agreed with DePape's statements, saying: "He mentioned two different times that if officers shot him, they would not miss and he was ready for that."

DePape is charged with attempted murder, first-degree burglary, and other offenses in a California state court as well as federal offenses that carry a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison. The judge ordered DePape to appear in court again on December 28 after finding sufficient evidence to proceed with the trial.
