The tragic death of little David Conde Jr: Boy, 2, starves to death after father dies of cardiac arrest
GENEVA, NEW YORK: Autopsies were done on a local man and his 2-year-old son, who were found dead in their New York apartment nine months ago. It was determined that the child died of starvation after his father died of heart disease, investigators stated.
David Conde Sr, 59, and his 2-year-old son David Conde Jr were found dead in Serenity Manor Apartments on Hamilton Street in Geneva on February 15, 2022, according to Syracuse. At the time, officials stated there were no signs of trauma to the victim and no obvious cause of their death.

Now, in a news release issued on Monday, November 14, the Ontario County Sheriff-elect and Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Dave Cirencione said that their investigation determined that Conde Sr first died from cardiovascular disease and then his son died of starvation. “It is believed that Mr Conde passed away first and the child was not able to obtain any nourishment after his father passed away,” Cirencione told the Finger Lakes Times.
“This has been a tough one for all of us who worked it from day one,” Cirencione added. “Once we ruled out carbon monoxide (as the cause of death), we sadly knew this was a likely cause. This a very, very sad case.” The authorities said they have ended their investigation into the traumatic death of the father and son.
The deceased bodies of the father and son were discovered after the deputies arrived at the apartment for a welfare check when their concerned family members told deputies they hadn’t heard from Conde Sr in over a week. Cirencione said that the pair was last seen by the family members on January 22. Their bodies were found in the bedroom of their apartment. The family members said Conde Sr had no known medical condition. The deputies said when the officials arrived at the apartment they found food and clothes for the baby but the apartment was cold inside and the heat was off, the Democrat and Chronicle reported.
The outlet also reported that investigators said the father gained custody of his son shortly after his birth on October 19 and his estranged mother, Michelle Travers, did not appear to have any recent contact with the pair.
Conde Jr’s obituary described him as a curly-haired boy with a “determined smile and sweet disposition.” Conde Jr is survived by his mother, and her partner, Marshall Watson, of Newark and also his six brothers — Caden, Rickey, Ryan, Justin, Julian, and Kayshaun. The obituary added the boy “had recently learned to walk, following many surgeries and months of casts and rehabilitation.”
