Is David Archuleta bisexual? Singer comes out as LGBTQ+, dubbed Mormon 'poster boy'
David Archuleta, a former contestant on 'American Idol', has come out of the closet as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and is talking about how he reconciled his Mormon beliefs with his sexuality.
“I like to keep to myself but also thought this was important to share because I know so many other people from religious upbringings feel the same way,” Archuleta wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I’ve been open to myself and my close family for some years now that I am not sure about my own sexuality.”

Archuleta is the latest in a string of celebrities who have come out with their sexuality. In May, when Demi Lovato came out as nonbinary, Candance Owens slammed the use of pronouns as "poor grammar". Elliot Page came out as nonbinary and transgender in 2020. With Pride Month ongoing and people celebrating each other's coming out, this was a good time for Tipton to have come out.

Is David Archuleta bisexual?
Following his post, Archuleta went on to say that he first came out as gay to his family in 2014, but that he is now unsure where he sits on the sexuality spectrum. “I came out in 2014 as gay to my family. But then I had similar feelings for both genders so maybe a spectrum of bisexual,” Archuleta wrote.
“Then I also have learned I don’t have too much sexual desires and urges as most people, which works I guess because I have a commitment to save myself until marriage. Which people call asexual when they don’t experience sexual urges," he added.
'Poster boy for 'you can be gay AND Mormon''
Fans took to Twitter to share their views. "I knew I was gay when i started singing david archuleta’s crush every time i had a crush on a girl," said one. "girl, david archuleta came out as as part of LGBTQ+ community and omg, he is one of my childhood crushes and one of the probable reasons why I became gay too and it's just exhilarating to know that somehow we belong on the same spectrum," a second added. "I just KNOW Mormons are going to use David Archuleta as the poster boy for “you can be gay AND Mormon," a third chipped in. "If God hates the gays then how come we got David Archuleta?" said a fourth.
