The episodes released so far suggest that Jason's return is possible with Amanda's help and companionship. Though there's no denying fact that Amanda's presence has been helping Jason understand how the box works, it would be too early to assume that she's the ultimate hero.
Daniela Dessen (Jennifer Connelly) is one of the lead characters in the series. So far, her role has been limited to being Jason's motivation to return home. However, we speculate that this character will gain spotlight in further episodes.
She has been suspicious of her husband's behavior and in the upcoming episodes, she will most likely pursue the truth. She might even end up spying on her husband to discover what he has been up to.
Jason 2 has been planning to seal up the box forever in order to stop Jason from ever returning to this world. Now it is only Daniela who can stop Jason 2 and open the way for her actual husband to return.

Meanwhile, we await a further exploration into the ulterior motives of Jason 2. He switched realities to be with Daniela, an opportunity he missed in his reality. However, in the recent episodes, we witness that he has been making same mistakes in this reality as well.
While his focus should have been Daniela, he is busy chasing money in this world too. His desire to fame cost him his love once and he is on the verge of losing Daniela all over again.
His desperation might bring out the worst in him forcing Jason to fight his alternate self to save his family.
