CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Mind-bending scientific explorations and sinister conspiracies have kept fans hooked to Apple TV+'s 'Dark Matter'. Jason Dessen's (Joel Edgerton) life took a dark turn when he was abducted by his own self on an ordinary night, turning his life upside down.
As he woke up in another reality, he gathered all his energy to return to his loving family. It's been halfway through the series and Jason has still not found his way back home.
Meanwhile, Jason 2 has blended into his world while ensuring that Jason never returns to this reality.
Jason 2 hatches an evil plan to stop Jason Dessen in 'Dark Matter'
In 'Dark Matter' Episode 5, we discover that Jason 2 is able to have seamless travel between realities.
Unlike the other Jason, he doesn't get stuck into the liminal space, opening the door to weird realities. Since he is the one who built the box, he knows the precise details of its functioning.
Towards the end of the episode, we see him returning to Reality 2 for the first time. As he steps out for a quick errand (to grab the magic drugs), he learns that Jason, along with Amanda Lucas (Alice Braga) has escaped through the box.
When Jason 2 returns to Reality 1, he is baffled by the discovery. In order to stop Jason from ever returning back, he decides to seal the box.
Will Jason Dessen be able to return to his original reality in 'Dark Matter'?
The chances of Jason returning to his original life were getting narrower, especially after he learned how to operate the box. However, his challenges are about to multiply with Jason 2's latest plan.
If Jason 2 actually seals the box, it would be impossible for Jason to enter his own reality.
As a result, he will either have to return to Reality 2 where his life is under threat, or will land up in another undesirable reality. Either way, it would be an unhappy ending for the protagonist.
As time's running out, Jason has to find his way back and stop his alternate self from whatever havoc he is likely to create ahead.
