’Dancing With Wolves?’: Liz Cheney hails KEVIN COSTNER endorsement, Wyoming voters say ‘not a REAL cowboy’
Wyoming Republican Liz Cheney tweeted a photo on Monday, August 1, of Kevin Costner sporting a pro-Cheney shirt. The 'Yellowstone' star backed Cheney's re-election bid as she faces a challenge from her opponent, Harriet Hageman. "Real men put country over party," Cheney tweeted alongside the photo.
The high-profile backing comes after a poll last month found Cheney — a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump and vice chairwoman of the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot — dragging her main GOP primary opponent, Hageman who is backed by Trump, by more than 20 points. The poll was conducted by the Casper Star-Tribune from July 7 to 11 and it was found that Hageman won 52 percent of support, while Cheney won only 30 percent of support from likely Republican primary voters.

Despite his support for Cheney, Costner no longer considers himself a Republican. Costner was once considered a Republican but has supported Democrats since the 1990s. Costner described himself as an independent in a 2020 interview with The Daily Beast. "I vote for whom I believe has the best interests of the country and our place in the world," Costner, 67, said at the time.
"The Democratic Party does not represent everything that I believe, and the Republican Party does not represent everything that I believe right now — at all," Costner said. "As a result, I find it too limiting", he said at that time during the interview. Costner further said he goes "back and forth" on his votes and called Trump "dangerous."
Liz's endorsement created a stir on Twitter. People slammed Liz for her move. Conservative activist Scott Presler wrote, "I don’t think Wyoming men will take kindly to a woman saying they aren’t real men if they don’t vote for you. Wyoming men, vote for Harriet Hageman on August 16th". In another tweet, he wrote, "Liz couldn’t find a Wyoming voter that supports her, so — naturally — she had to settle for an actor that lives in Colorado. Sounds about right". "Hollywood elites support Liz Cheney while many Wyoming voters don’t", a user wrote. While another wrote, "Nobody tell this idiot 2 of Republicans favorite presidents were actors".
