Damar Hamlin: NFL star 'awake' and showing 'remarkable improvement' after cardiac arrest
CINCINNATI, OHIO: After the horrific on-field collision during Monday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Damar Hamlin is "awake" and is showing "remarkable improvement." Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field and he had to be revived twice on the ground.
The University of Pittsburgh graduate and second-year player, Hamlin, was immediately rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he stayed in the intensive care unit. Recently, Hamlin's father, Mario Hamlin, reportedly used a Zoom Call to speak with the Buffalo Bills squad in front of his son, in an effort to boost the team's spirits.

In a recent update, the Buffalo Bills stated that although Hamlin has shown "remarkable improvement over the previous 24 hours," his condition is still "critical," and he has shown signs which proves that he is neurologically intact. He is also "making steady improvement" and "his lungs continue to heal." "Our boy is doing better, awake, and showing more signs of improvement. Thank you, God. Keep the prayers coming, please. All love 3!," teammate, Kaiir Elam shared on Twitter.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said the update on Damar's condition was "needed" as per the team insiders. He wrote, "Damar Hamlin’s father, Mario Hamlin, addressed the entire Bills team on a zoom call Wednesday to personally update everyone in attendance on his son, per source. Mario Hamlin informed the Bills that Damar was making progress and, in the words of one source, “the team needed it.”'

Following the incident, the game was postponed and will not resume this week as reported. In a heartening post following the health update, the Buffalo Bills shared a photo of Hamlin with his hand making a shape of the heart. Since the collapse, there has been an overwhelming outpouring of love and support for his quick recovery. Hamlin's Toy drive which he started in 2020 to help children in need crossed $7 million as of Wednesday.
