Courtney Love says Brad Pitt fired her from 'Fight Club' because she 'wouldn’t let him play Kurt Cobain'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Courtney Love claims that Brad Pitt had her sacked from the 1999 cult classic film 'Fight Club' after she rejected his suggestion to play her late husband Kurt Cobain in a biography.
On a recent edition of Marc Maron's 'WTF' podcast, 'The Hole' singer, 58, airing her frustrations against the 'Babylon' star, 59, revealed how she was initially going to portray the character of Marla Singer, which ultimately went to Helena Bonham Carter.

Love was purportedly sacked from the project by 'Fight Club' director David Fincher after she rejected Pitt's idea to play Cobain in a movie. She is quoted as saying, "He fired me because I wouldn't let Brad play Kurt." In the meantime, a person close to the movie allegedly told DailyMail that Courtney Love once tried out for a part in Fight Club but was never given the part. No one can terminate them for not getting the job. The director casts the parts, not the other actors, as is well known.
“I don’t know if I trust you, and I don’t know that your movies are for profit. They’re really good social justice movies, but … if you don’t get me, you kind of don’t get Kurt, and I don’t feel like you do, Brad,” the singer recalled telling to Pitt. "I wouldn’t let Brad play Kurt,” she added. “I went nuclear. I don’t do Faust. Who the f – – k do you think [you] are?"
Love stated that while she would be open to making a movie about her late husband, she would not want to work with Pitt, who had suggested a second Cobain biopic for 2020. "My friend Cameron Crowe [told me] Brad Pitt was put on this earth to stalk you for Kurt, which has been going on since 1996," stated Love.
Love and Cobain got married in 1992 prior to Cobain's passing at age 27 in 1994. The 'Fight Club' co-star Edward Norton, according to the 'Hole' frontwoman, informed Love of the casting rejection, reported New York Post. "He starts sobbing," Love recounted. "He was like, ‘I don’t have the power!'" Later, Fincher allegedly called her and told her she had been let go from the movie. "My landline rang and it was David Fincher. I knew it was gonna be him. By the way, God bless Helena Bonham Carter. She’s a genius. I’ve never seen that film … And yeah, he fired me because I wouldn’t let Brad play Kurt."
