NORTH DAKOTA, BISMARCK: North Dakota police stated there was "no evidence" to suggest that politics was involved in a horrifying case of road rage, when a man allegedly mowed down an 18-year-old boy with his SUV and killed him over a political argument on Sunday, September 18. Shannon Brandt, 41 confessed to the murder of Cayler Ellingson after he chased the boy and ran him over because he was a "Republican extremist."

Brandt struck the teen and left the boy writhing in pain after he fled. He reportedly came back and called the cops. Brandt did not wait for the cops to arrive and was arrested from his home in Glenfield for vehicular homicide. Two days later, on Tuesday, September 20, Brandt was released on a $50,000 bail which caused public outrage. Brandt allegedly told the police he was drinking alcohol before he ran over Ellingson as the teen was threatening to send a mob after him after a political disagreement.

However, many Republicans such as Senator Ted Cruz and Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, blame the incident as a result of Joe Biden's 'MAGA Republican' speech of being a threat to the country in front of the White House House earlier. North Dakota Highway Patrol Captain Bryan Niewind told Fox News, "We have uncovered no evidence to support Mr Brandt's claim on the 911 call he made that Cayler Ellingson is a Republican extremist, nor that this incident involved politics. He said that the police would continue to investigate Brandt's claim but did not mention how they came to this conclusion.

The police were not clear about the motive. Ellingson's mother claimed the teen called her twice, first to check if she knew Shannon Brandt and another call informing her that Brandt was chasing him. She reportedly told him that she was coming to pick him up but it was too late when she arrived.

This case even caught the eye of Donald Trump Jr, who slammed the media for being silent. He wrote, "An 18 y/o conservative is murdered by 41 year old leftist & the media is totally silent. No connection to Joe Biden and his insane speech of just 2 weeks ago… it’s as though it never happened & doesn’t matter. Of course Trump would not get that benefit b/c our media is broken!" Senate Cruz wrote, "Leftist murders a teenager because he was a Republican. Then, he’s promptly released on bail. Twisted. Dems’ hateful rhetoric continues to bear toxic fruit." Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote, "A left wing political terrorist is walking free after intentionally killing an 18 year old because he was a Republican just weeks after Biden declares war on MAGA. Not one J6 defendant is charged with murder yet they are rotting pretrial in jail not allowed to post bail."
