Chuck Schumer trolls Larry Kudlow about 'plant-based beer' on Oscars night, Internet mocks 'self-owning' MAGAs

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer seems to have joined the leagues of Ellen DeGeneres in breaking the internet on Oscars night. As the Academy Awards took over the biggest night of cinema, the New York Democrat decided to have a little fun on the internet by trolling Fox Business personality and former Trump adviser Larry Kudlow.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, the night of April 25, Schumer tweeted a photo of himself sitting in front of the TV, lounging on a chair, with an opened beer bottle in his hand. Schumer captioned the photo "Excited to be watching the Oscars with an ice cold plant-based beer. Thanks Joe Biden." The quip followed Kudlow's recent appearance on Fox News where he slammed Joe Biden on Saturday, April 24.

Going on a rant against the 46th POTUS, Kudlow said, "Speaking of stupid, there's a study coming out of the University of Michigan which says that to meet the Biden Green New Deal targets, America has to, get this, America has to stop eating meat, stop eating poultry and fish, seafood, eggs, dairy, and animal-based fats." He then went on to add "Ok, got that? No burger on July 4. No steaks on the barbecue. I'm sure Middle America is just going to love that. Can you grill those Brussels sprouts? So get ready." Further attempting to mock the president, Kudlow concluded  "You can throw back a plant-based beer with your grilled Brussels sprouts and wave your American flag. Call it July 4th Green."

This became a widely mocked argument on Twitter since it is a well-known fact that beer is plant-based as it is. But Schumer's quip at Kudlow's outrage clearly fell flat on Republican supporters, who blindly chose to inform the senate leader of the main components of beer. And they were in turn mocked by Schumer and Biden supporters, mostly Democrats, who claimed on Twitter, "The best part of Schumer dunking on Ludlow is the rest of the Trumpublicans self-owning as they think this is about beer."

Others were entertained: "The republicans under this tweet is hilarious ... you guys boycotted so much shii like Oscars, Hollywood, nikes, cnn etc. because of trump ... when are u gonna boycott twitter and juss stay on Facebook?" Some also applauded how, "The best part of this is all the replies from Republicans who don't get that Schumer is clowning on them." Some even joined in the senator's celebrations touting, "Once you’ve had a plant-based beer there’s no going back! It’s call the Law of Larry! Enjoy, Senator!" 

Others also played on the fun, taking Schumer's joke further and letting him know, "Actually, I sometimes prefer a meat-based beer and when I do, I sit even closer to the tv than you do." Some even quipped "I’ve been drinking those plant-based beers all weekend. Was I supposed to be drinking the meat-based ones while I can still get them?" For others, the fun was personal as one tweeted "My hubby worked at a major brewery in Golden, CO for 33 years and he’s been laughing all day at this meat vs. plant based beer. He’s having a plant based beer right now!"
