Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who fell from grace following a series of scandals, becomes the latest to join Rudy Giuliani's league of supporters after the FBI raid in his home and office. Talking to Fox News on April 30, 2021, Christie called himself a victim of the Obama-Biden administration. Proclaiming his support for Rudy Giuliani, he stated his concern about the search warrant against the former New York Mayor and Trump's former attorney.

Social media users have now launched a scathing attack on Christie as they speculate if Rudy Giuliani has any 'dirt' on him. "With the way that Chris Christie is kissing Rudy Giuliani's a**, you have to wonder what dirt Rudy Giuliani has on Chris Christie," tweeted left-wing political blog Palmer Report.

Meanwhile, let us have a look at the past scandals and controversies surrounding Chris Christie that led to his fall from grace at the peak of his political career.

A list of Chris Christie's scandals

From shutting down a major bridge like the Fort Lee lane to problematic comments from time to time, the Republican politician's career had been embroiled in controversies.

The biggest scandal that still continues to haunt his political ambitions was Bridgegate when he ordered the closure of George Washington Bridge access lanes in Fort Lee. The 2013 decision caused massive delays and traffic issues in the area around GWB in New Jersey. Back then, Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich asserted that Christie might have enacted the decision as a simple act of retribution, since he did not endorse his reelection. The Bridgegate scandal was probed by the US Attorney for New Jersey, the New Jersey Legislature, and Port Authority.

Christie's endorsement of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential elections also earned him severe backlash. Even Republicans routed for his resignation saying he stays out of his state most of the time to campaign for Trump.

His relief efforts after Hurricane Sandy was appreciated by everyone initially, though he was later questioned for his use of Sandy relief funds. Later, when his absence from New Jersey after a blizzard was questioned by a woman, he snarkily responded, "You want me to go down there with a mop?” Alongside, he also invited ample criticism for incurring heavy personal expenditure on the state exchequer. For instance, the time he took a chopper to watch his son play a high school baseball game or when his presidential run used up over $1 million taxpayer dollars.

Time and again, Chris Christie has grabbed the headlines for his "bullying" and controversial remarks, reported Observer. In 2012, he called a reporter "stupid" and "idiot" during a press conference for asking an off-topic question. During a 2014 press conference, he told activist and educator Jim Keady to "sit down and shut up". He also once remarked that teachers unions need a "slap in the face" and called NJ State PBA president Pat Colligan a "pension pig" on another occasion.

Many fellow Republicans believed that Christie's 2013 reelection victory was secured by serving his own personal interests and ignoring the interests of the New Jersey Republican Party.

'Desperate and Ridiculous'

Alongside his support for Rudy Giuliani, Christie also came under fire for giving former President Trump an 'A', when Fox News host Sean Hannity asked him about the same.

Former presidential candidate and Republican leader Joe Walsh slammed Christie on Twitter. "Trump repeatedly obstructed justice, he tried to cheat in the 2020 election, he initiated & spread the big lie about a stolen election, he undermined our democracy, he incited an insurrection, and yet Chris Christie still gives him an 'A' grade for his Presidency. Just pathetic," he wrote.

"And this is why Chris Christie will never be President," remarked one user.

"What...in the...FFS @ChrisChristie. Just retire already since your voice is completely gone," a Twitter user demanded.

Another user tweeted, "How can Chris Christie even say that unless he wants his voters to back him for another disastrous presidential bid. He gave you COVID19 bc he’s reckless and yet you give him an A. Desperate and Ridiculous"
