SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: After much deliberation, surveillance evidence and police body cam footage from the attack on October 28, 2022, inside the Pelosi home, were all made public on Friday, January 27. The footage was released as a result of Judge Stephen M. Murphy's ruling on Wednesday, January 25.

Judge Murphy's decision, which went against the prosecution's wishes, stated that there was no legal reason to keep the footage private. On Friday, January 27, Nancy Pelosi declared that she has "no intention" of watching the disturbing attack on her husband. She said, "As you know today there was a release of some information. I have not heard the 911 call, I have not heard the confession, I have not seen the break-in, and I have absolutely no intention of seeing the deadly assault on my husband's life." A San Francisco court has made public the distressing police bodycam video from the incident in which Paul Pelosi was viciously attacked at his home with a hammer by the suspect, David DePape

Police officers Kolby Wilmes and Kyle Cagney arrived at the Pelosi home at roughly 2.31 am after Paul's 911 call. Wilmes and Colby can be seen approaching the house's door and persistently knocking on it in the bodycam video. After around 17 seconds, the door is finally answered. Paul and DePape are seen standing side by side in the home's hallway.

With the hammer in DePape's hands, Pelosi looks to try and grip it with his right hand. Additionally, Pelosi is sipping a beverage, and at one point he seems to smile as a police officer queries, "What's going on, man?" DePape replies, "Everything's good" before a cop uses a spotlight to reveal the hammer.

DePape then struggles briefly with Pelosi before launching the horrific assault in response to the police's command to "drop the hammer." Before the video was made public, there was much discussion about Pelosi's decision not to call the police right away, reporting his emergency and danger.

The footage appears to demonstrate Pelosi's efforts to keep DePape calm prior to the arrival of police and his unwillingness to take any actions that would enrage his assailant. It appears that he's trying to stop the assault by keeping one hand on the hammer in DePape's hand.

The footage shows that the attacker moves quickly despite the police's attempts to get DePape to drop the weapon, and it appears that the responding cops were unaware of the precise nature of the situation inside the house when they arrived. Pelosi's smile, his apparent ease, and the drink in his hand raise more questions about what happened prior to the cops showing up.

After watching the footage, many individuals expressed their opinions on Twitter, with one person writing, "I'm sorry but that looks weird. First they held back releasing it. Then they're all smiles and he's in a robe and runners. And then almost as if planned to happen EXACTLY when the cops showed up, he hits him. Weird."

Another individual who shared his insights wrote, "Observations.Police casually walk up to front door.Who actually opened the door?Paul is holing on to hammer and a drink in the other hand. The other guy seems to have both hands on the hammer. Both have big grins on their faces.Without audio we can't see what triggered the swing."

A third person wrote, "I'm sure this will annoy some of you, but from what I see and hear in these, it's perfectly likely Pelosi didn't know the guy and was trying to diffuse the situation (keep DePape calm) until the police acted. It can be as simple as a psycho attacked a guy."

Another piece of evidence that was made available to the public was surveillance video from the US Capitol Police, which shows DePape lurking around Nancy and Paul's property before breaking into their San Francisco home and assaulting the former House Speaker's husband.

DePape is initially seen in the footage quietly walking toward the house with his hands on his hips. After inspecting the house, he leaves and comes back holding a sizable bag and wearing a backpack. He can be seen checking behind a few times as he ultimately gains entry to the house by possibly using a hammer to smash the window.

Six minutes of the video are spent with the suspect entering the house. One theory that was debunked after the release of the surveillance footage was that DePape might have broken the window to the house from the inside. Glass was seen scattered outside the downstairs window in aerial footage taken after the incident, which some internet theorists said was proof that the window was shattered from the inside.

Many online users think the break-in was staged after seeing the break-in video. One person tweeted, "I’m no conspiracy theorist but this is acting and staged. My opinion." Another individual who found the break-in 'hard to believe' wrote, "Hard to believe it's that easy to walk up and break into the house of the person who is 2nd in line to be president of the United States."

A third person tweeted, "It's clear from the newly released body camera footage that David DePape had a serious mental break when he attacked Paul Pelosi and the quick thinking of Paul in placating the situation was commendable. The courts will now decide DePape's fate."
