'Chicago Fire' Season 9 Episode 5: Will Hermann and Cruz die in 'My Lucky Day'? Fans are ready to 'riot'
Spoilers for 'Chicago Fire' Season 9 Episode 5 'My Lucky Day'
In 'Chicago Fire' Season 9 Episode 5 titled 'My Lucky Day' Firehouse 51 is called to an emergency scene where they are faced with a dangerous fire blazing in a 10-story storage unit. Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) and Lieutenant Christopher Hermann (David Eigenberg) unfortunately find themselves trapped inside a freight elevator with no way of communicating for help. As fans of the show, while we were happy that Hermann and Cruz have scenes together – usually a rarity – we weren't asking for one that might see them get gravely injured. As the duo try to save the people that could get hurt in the fire, we wonder if Hermann's fortune cookie calling for a "lucky day" was wrong after all.
While at the building, Cruz and Hermann end up in the elevator with a woman and a man from the building as they try to make their way to the 8th floor. As Hermann brags about it being his "lucky day" since he didn't have to use the stairs – they end up in a pickle. One of the balancing cables holding the elevator popped sending the quad down a bit, but fast. Bring on the horror!

The episode is daunting to say in the least, as we are all on the edge of our chairs - which makes sense considering how terrifying this incident is. But, if we had to speculate, we don't think that Hermann or Cruz is dying. We're staying on the hopeful side, the show just got back, they cant' take away two main characters, right? The fire is closing in though...
