Cher says Trump wants postal service to go bankrupt so that people can't vote via mail

Cher, one of the most vocal critics of Donald Trump, has taken to social media to criticize the president again and claimed that he wants the US Postal Service (USPS) to go bankrupt because it would give him an advantage in the upcoming elections.

The 72-year-old singer has regularly slammed Trump and his administration over its response to the coronavirus pandemic, and recently, took to Twitter to attack him over not providing aid to small businesses.

"Doesn’t anyone care that people who have small businesses are going under because of him? They’re losing everything! Small business is the lifeblood of America, as they go under we go under [sic]," she tweeted.

She went on to tout a conspiracy that Trump wanted states that vote favorably towards Democrats, as well as the USPS, to go bankrupt so it would help him get re-elected to the Oval Office come November.

"P.S. Trump wants blue states to declare bankruptcy. P.S.S He wants the Post Office to go bankrupt so we can’t vote by mail," she wrote.

The USPS had recently warned that they would run out of cash as early as October due to a "devastating" drop in business brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

In video testimony to members of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, Postmaster General Megan Brennan had said they could see a $13 billion drop in revenue and would run of cash by the end of the fiscal year.

She said the drop in volume during the pandemic had been "steep and may never fully recover" and that the financial crunch was threatening the postal service's ability to operate.

"The Postal Service relies on the sale of postal products and services to fund our operations, and these sales are plummeting as a result of the pandemic," Brennan had said.

Cher's recent tirade is just one of the many she has made over the course of the outbreak. Last month, she claimed that Trump was willing to sacrifice her mother in a bid to restart the country's economy.

"For Trump my mom & I Are Dispensable, Fodder For His InHumane Grist Mill. Well, I HAVE Worked From1965 To 2020 & Perhaps I’m beyond HIS Sell By Date. As 4 Mom..all she does is make everybody Laugh..yes we’re Obviously The Ones Who should be sacrificed. For Donald Trumps Economy," she had tweeted.

She had also suggested that Trump should step down because he would end up killing thousands of Americans due to his lackadaisical response to the pandemic and accused him of making things up because he could not bear not being the center of attention.

"Trump knows no one is stealing medical supplies," she wrote. "He’s so addicted to being in front of the cameras, he can’t bear 'not being' the center of attention, with no adulation. He’s a sick man, who doesn’t care if he lies or tells the truth. He needs to feed the orange beast. If he can’t spew venom at his rallies, crime and poison will do [sic]."
