A recent study warns you to be cautious if your lover is continually bragging about how terrific he is. Researchers have discovered that men with negative personality traits such as machiavellianism, narcissism, and sadism are more prone to cheat on several occasions.

Grandiosity, pride, egotism, and a lack of empathy for others are common characteristics of narcissism in psychology. "People with dark personality traits can establish short-term relationships more easily because they generally have low expectations about their future partners, especially in the case of men," stated Universidade da Coruna academics Laura Ferreiros and Miguel Clemente. "Additionally, even if their initial expectations are high, they are willing to reduce them to have more partner options."

People with dark personality traits are more likely to be unsympathetic, manipulative, and violent, according to prior reports. However, little study has been done on the relationship between dark personality traits and young people's intimate pair relationships up until now.

The researchers wanted to see if there was a link between the two and surveyed 308 people aged 18 to 25, 78.3% of them women and 21.2 percent men. Participants were asked questions about their sexual habits and tendencies toward partners, as well as their moral disengagement and dark personality qualities.

Machiavellianism, narcissism, psychopathy, sadism, moral justification, euphemistic labeling, advantageous comparison, displacement of responsibility, diffusion of responsibility, distortion of consequences, dehumanization, and attribution of blame were among the 'dark' traits examined by the researchers. Men scored higher than women in moral disengagement and negative personality traits, according to the poll results.

Except for psychopathy, people who were unfaithful or watched pornographic content scored higher on these qualities. Men with more dark personality traits, on the other hand, were more inclined to cheat on their partners, especially frequently.

"Infidelity is highly related to the presence of dark personality traits, unrestricted socio-sexuality, and having more sexual partners," the researchers noted. The report comes after studies indicated that highly narcissistic people move up the corporate ladder 29 percent faster than non-narcissistic people.

Researchers used questionnaires to compare the levels of narcissism in 241 CEOs across Italy with their work histories. They discovered that executives with the highest narcissism ratings were promoted faster, regardless of whether their company was a family business or not. This shows that narcissistic people profit from the negative personality trait when they want to be the CEO of their firm as soon as feasible. However, researchers aren't sure why.
