Charli D'Amelio's 'photoshopped' Instagram post sparks rage, fans say 'aren't y'all White?' for dark skin tone
Charli D'Amelio became famous as a social media personality with her dances on the popular video-sharing application TikTok. With nearly 50 million followers on the application now, she is considered the queen of the app. Being a social media star comes with a prize as many of these young adults are forced to uphold unrealistic standards of beauty. Most recently, Charli took to her Instagram to post a picture of her, her sister Dixie, a social media personality as well and beauty YouTuber and make-artist James Charles. Since the picture looks very polished and totally out of the norm, many users flooded the star's comment section calling the trio out on "excessive" photoshop use.
The picture Charli posted was captioned "Happy national sisters day!!" and showcased James in the middle with the sisters next to him, with heavy makeup on. With Charlie in white and the other two in black, the obvious make-up makes them look related. Dixie had even posted a video of the process on her YouTube channel titling the video "James Charles Uses Makeup to Turn Us into Triplets! featuring Charli D’Amelio | Dixie D’Amelio." While that may have been the goal, users and followers of the trio took to Charli's comment section calling out the "obvious" use of photoshop. "Girl why the photoshop all three of you guys are naturally pretty," asked one follower with another adding, "No shade but these photos are so facetuned it physically hurts."
This is not the first time a social media personality has been called out for such drastic changes in their appearance in just a few pictures. Not to mention, this isn't the first time Charli has been called out for it either, so has her sister Dixie and definitely Charles. One user asked the trio, "What is the point of this bs yall look like whole different people without the photoshop and we know this?" with another adding, "I can't tell if this is a photo or a digital painting. Don't let James do your edits." Another user added, "Ya'll literally look like cartoon characters." Many of the users couldn't help but notice how different the trio looked especially since Dixie's video on YouTube showed their final results - it looked nothing like the picture Charlie posted on Instagram. "Are yall forgetting yall posted the video or sumthin? cuz it's obviously this picture was photoshopped filtered and sh*it," wrote one user. Another added, "Yall must be dumb you guys didn't look like tat the end of the video!"
The video shows the process of how Charles did Dixie's makeup while Charli did her own and while the end doesn't show the picture, it does show the result of the process. Many thought the trio were naturally gorgeous and the obviously heavy editing was not needed. "Aren't yall white?" asked another user only because the picture is obviously made to look a lot darker changing the skin tones of the trio. Another added, "Yyall moving on to photoshop now that tiktok is canceled?" asked another user sarcastically referring to the fact that President Trump is set to ban the application in the United States - the very app that got Dixie and Charli famous.
