'No child services in Tibet?' Charlamagne tha God slams India-based Dalai Lama over 'suck my tongue'
MONCKS CORNER, SOUTH CAROLINA: Radio host Charlamagne tha God flayed the Dalai Lama after a viral video showed the latter kissing a young boy on the lips before asking him to suck his tongue. On the latest episode of 'The Breakfast Club' with DJ Envy and comedian Aida Rodriguez, Charlamagne said, "They don’t got no child services in Tibet?"
The viral incident happened in February in Dharamshala, situated in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, which showed a boy asking the Dalai Lama, 87, for a hug which turned into a kiss. Following an uproar by several public figures including Cardi B, the leader apologized. "His holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras. He regrets the incident," a statement posted to his Instagram read.

'That's Tibetan culture'
During the podcast, Charlamagne called out the Dalai Lama's apology and his faithful followers for calling the incident "cultural." "I saw them say that’s Tibetan culture. That people stick their tongue out as a sign of respect," Charlamagne said, adding, "But ain’t nobody saying that you gotta ask the little boy to suck your tongue. That’s a whole different ballgame. The Dalai Lama wanted to get sucked by a little boy. You should call it what it is."
Charlamagne also questioned if the Dalai Lama's behavior was normal in Tibet after people saw what took place and looked like they were laughing and the boy stood awkwardly. "It’s an 87-year-old man talking to a kid who’s so young that they had to blur his face out, and then you put out an apology. It’s just a simple apology. Like that’s just normal behavior?" Charlamagne said.
'Heavy lapse of judgement'
DJ Envy said, "He apologized and said that, you know, he jokes like this all the time. But what’s funny about that, what’s funny with asking a young boy to suck your tongue?" Rodriguez added that the act was a "heavy lapse of judgement." The comedian then asked what happened behind closed doors when the Dalai Lama was with his followers.
"He’s gonna come back with one of his philosophies. 'In order to have big life, you must suck old man’s tongue,"' Rodriguez said. "Absolutely, and nothing’s gonna happen to him. I’m actually shocked that he apologized. Cause I mean, he’s apologizing cause he’s responding to the backlash on social media. There’s no uproar going on in his country," Charlamagne responded.
