SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Medical professionals in San Francisco labored assiduously for more than four hours to save the life of Cash App founder Bob Lee, stapling his heart and inserting a chest tube before he died on an operating table, according to autopsy results. Lee was visiting the city when he was stabbed three times and left for dead early on Thursday, April 4. The 43-year-old divorced tech boss called 911 in a panic shortly after 2.35 am before falling in front of a private flat.

After a toxicology report revealed that Lee had traces of cocaine and ketamine in his system, the defense attorney for accused murderer Nima Momeni slammed Lee for having "pretty much every recreational illegal drug" in his system on Tuesday, May 2, and the new information caused the suspected murderer's arraignment to be postponed for a third time.

How did Bob Lee die?

Officers from the San Francisco PD and paramedics were on the scene by 2.40 am, giving Lee CPR despite the fact that he was unconscious, "pulseless," and breathing laboriously, according to a Medical Examiner/Investigator's Report released late Monday. Lee was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was taken into the emergency room and physicians began a "massive transfusion protocol" before performing a thoracotomy - a big cut along the left side of the chest.

Revealed two heart injuries

Lee underwent an emergency thoracotomy, which revealed two heart injuries that needed to be stitched up. In addition, medical professionals cross-clamped the aorta and started administering intracardiac massage and epinephrine. After being taken to the operating room, Lee's injuries were discovered to include a lung wound and damage to the right ventricle's apex. The report stated that Lee died at 6.49 am while being operated on, as per CBS.

'There is lots of drugs'

Lee had alcohol, cocaine, and ketamine in his system the night of his death, according to the toxicology report produced by the medical examiner based on testing of his blood. According to a witness, Momeni and Lee had a previous argument over whether Momeni's sister Khazar Elyassnia had used drugs while in Lee's company that evening. Drugs were part of this case last week, according to Momeni's attorney Paula Canny. "Based on my investigation, I know there's a lot of drugs involved with people other than my client. I know there is lots of drugs," she said. A text message from Momeni's sister Elyassnia to Lee shortly after his stabbing death indicated worry for Lee, as it read, "I know nima came wayyyyy down hard on you," according to court records that were made public last month.

When is Momeni's next court date?

Momeni has been charged with murder with a sentencing enhancement of using a knife. He is currently detained without bail and is due back in court on May 2.
