'Gotta digest this as I head to a BBQ': Carol Adams slammed for calling eating meat ‘white supremacist’
Animal rights advocate and feminist Carol Adams has been lambasted online for her “woke” speech at the Oxford Union 'Beyond Meat' Debate on Wednesday, February 9. In her speech, the 71-year-old said that eating meat is connected to a “white supremacist patriarchal worldview” and that white supremacists “weaponised” eating meat, eggs, and dairy to claim back their injured masculinity.
The author of ‘The Pornography of Meat: New and Updated Edition’ mentioned that eating animal “corpses” are “massaged by euphemistic language”. She continued, “In order to be eaten, animals must disappear as living beings, that is be killed. They then disappear conceptually as so many forms in which we eat animal corpses are massaged by euphemistic language (like) hamburgers, steak, pork, bacon... Even the speaker just before me talked about 'turkeys', he's talking about dead butchered turkeys of whom part of their bodies will be eaten. Meat eaters order leg of lamb, not a baby lamb's leg (and) your hamburger comes with a dose of misogyny.”

Adams then went on to give examples of the September 11 attacks and a black man being elected as the President of America to prove her point that men are claiming back their “wounded masculinity” by consuming meat, eggs, and dairy.
She claimed, “That's why after 9/11, a focus on men as heroes and on meat eating became part of reclamation of a wounded masculinity. When a black man was elected as US President, we saw how white this wounded masculinity was,” before adding, “White supremacists weaponised eating meat, eggs and dairy, images of milk drinking white men, of platters groaning with meat and the baiting of liberal men as so-called soy boys are all part of the neo-Nazi messaging. This is their right', the neo-Nazi say, 'this is their identity'.” The author also stated that “our whiteness is part of the problem of meat eating.”
However, people did not seem convinced by her theory as a user tweeted: “What did she say that made any sense? Meat is ‘white supremacy’ really. I know a lot of females who love meat and eggs!” Another user wrote, “I can’t even watch without almost getting sick. It truly is a mental disorder. Where the hell do ideas like this even come from. If I ever found out one of my kids attended something like this I would fall to my knees and weep for my failure as a parent.” “I gotta digest this as I head to the BBQ here in Palm Coast, Florida. I will however scold the alligator for eating the fish. Also the eagles and Ospreys as well. How dare they!” the third user added.

A person sarcastically said, “Hilarious stuff right there. I'm glad I was not drinking something when I listened to that or I'd have to clean my monitor off right now.” The second one noted, “I suposse it's an eloquent speech Still, It's a shame she didn't mention the missogeny in my home country, Nicaragua, where the Femicides figure of is 70/year. Dozens of traumatozed children seeing their drunkard father kill their mother But I suposse burgers are more important.”
